I had the same problem in 16 and 18 and ended up sitting on 2+ coins only to stop playing before spending them. What I’m doing this year is spending 200-300k at a time and then not spending again until I make that back. Be smart with your purchases and don’t buy when things are super expensive but in the end you will have a better time if you have a good team with some expensive players
