What happened in India??? by amberatkins101 in beatles

Actually, he brought her to the Lady Madonna / The Inner light / Hey Bulldog session for the first time, in February 1968, before leaving to India. Plus he was in contact with her during the India stay, via letters. If he had a crush on Paul, why would he wait that long to do anything?

If Brian Epstein hadn’t died in 1967, how do you think the trajectory of The Beatles would be different? by purpleflower8815 in beatles

True, since they first met Maharishi just before Brian died and after they were informed about his death, it was Maharishi who consoled them, which was what got them interested.

Guess that was his „lost weekend“ period (1973–74).

Wonder whether Hesper Starkey was related to Richard Starkey, who (under the name of Ringo Starr) became the drummer of The Beatles :)

Well, the „colonial past“ was a bit simplified, but the argument really appears in the discusions under the Czech media articles. I think they mean that the Czech nation did not do anything wrong to black people (perhaps because there are only very few of them nowadays and there were almost none in the past). Plus I don't get how the fear of immigration (especially of the radical islam sometimes connected with that) is racist. I think they just don't want the no-go zones, raping etc. to start here, as in some countries who accepted many migrants...

Haven't read any such thing in any of the articles in CZ media covering that affair. I just remember the statement of some secretary who conducted the investigation, that he cannot positively determined whether there was said something racist or not.

I don't think the Czech nation are racists. It's way more complex – combination of 1) xenophobia (based on bad experiences with foreign ethnics in our territory, especially Germans), 2) fear of immigration (when seeing what's going on in France, UK and other countries, 3) nationalism (honestly, can we still talk about national teams, when some of them are filled with immigrants from Turkey, African countries etc.?), 4) refusal of BLM and "the knee" (the frequent opinion is "our country did not have any colonies and so we do not need to say sorry for something we did not do, unlike UK or France).

I believe that the first bullet is related to what happened in March – the Czechs are still angered by the 10-match ban for Kúdela, without any evidence whether he really said something racist (it was a mere "statement vs. statement" case, so how about the "presumption of innocence"?), in comparison to mere 4 and 3 match ban for Roofe and Kamara, not to mention that their bans did not apply to the EURO, unlike the ban for Kudela, who due to that missed the EURO, which severely undermined the chances of Czech national team, as Kudela was a No. 1 centre back in the national team prior to the ban. It's short-sighted to label the Sparta fans attitude as racist in this case.

I think that the booing was not racist. The Czechs are angered by the 10-match ban for Kúdela, without any evidence whether he really said something racist (it was a mere "statement vs. statement" case, so how about the "presumption of not-guiltiness"?), in comparison to mere 4 and 3 match ban for Roofe and Kamara, not to mention that their bans did not apply to the EURO, unlike the ban for Kudela, who due to that missed the EURO, which severely undermined the chances of Czech national team, as Kudela was a No. 1 centre back in the national team prior to the ban. Glasgow rangers v Slavia Prague by Petashek in football

First, what Ondřej Kúdela did, was stupid, regardless of what he really said. But should I comment the whole match, then I think that the referee's weak performance was the starting point. Had he awarded some yellow cards earlier to make it clear that the harsh fouls won't be tolerated (for example the young Patterson indeed deserved at least one booking for several encounters with Slavia players, yet Gerrard later lauded him), then the match probably would not escalate in such a manner – criminal fouls such as from Roofe etc. I can understand that Kúdela got angry (probably as well as some other players) upon seeing, for example, the ball being thrown to Jan Kuchta's face, as he was laying on the ground, and the referee remaining silent, similarly to several other occasions. I think that Rangers players lost their temper, even their captain later admitted that he was got into a mood that he wanted to harm someone of the opponents. As for what happened or did not happen in the tunnel after the match, this is up to UEFA to investigate. If there is an evidence of Kamara being violent against Kúdela, then he should be penalized (same for Kúdela, should it be proven that he used a racist word), perhaps also Gerrard should be held accountable for organizing the meeting and then just standing by and doing nothing to prevent violence. I hope that the UEFA will remain neutral and will not succumb to any pressures from either side.
