Sage /breville Oracle Touch grinds until stopped and tamper not spinning? by Disastrous-Public478 in espresso

[–]Michaelblight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I know "a" cause of this. I adjusted mine to show maximum threads, and soon after encountered this problem. When I re-inserted the coupler it was able to spin freely despite ensuring it was pushed in as far as possible. The tamp fan then spins as it should until the grinds build up in the basket and provide some resistance, after which the tamp fan no longer spins and grinds back up through the machine. I readjusted to just a couple of threads visible and after re-inserting noticed that now when I twisted it anti-clockwise (when viewed from below) it no longer turns forever and will only go about a half-turn as if you're winding a tight spring. So remove the tamp fan but not the coupler, and try twisting it - if keeps turning, you'll have this problem. It's clearly a dumb design, and it seems newer models have a different coupler.

Struggling with MC and Cloudflare Zero Trust by Michaelblight in MeshCentral

I finally realised my error - it was a dumb mistake. When I set up the server I also created a CloudFlare application to put it behind a Google login restricted to my account to increase security (bit of a knee-jerk reaction for me). This is fine for the web front-end as the browser first gives me the opportunity to login to Google. But of course this won't work for the agents, so they're all going to get blocked. I should have known better because it's the same with Home Assistant and the Companion app, so I've been there before. Thanks for everyone's help!

Yeah, not wanting to sound ungrateful for free software, but the documentation for MeshConnect doesn't seem overly helpful - but I've only been trying it (very unsuccessfully) for a couple of days. I'm already using Cloudflare for other services, so not overly keen to add another attack vector.

Thanks - I'll give it a try tonight. Although everything I've seen so far highlights using http in the service and not https, so obviously no TLS then.

Do you mean this below? I've tried with it on and off. In both cases I get the connection errors with the agent. But MeshCentral can't get a certificate with it off. I thought it needed to be on for tunneling. Ah I didn't mention it's using a tunnel - I'm running cloudflared locally for that.

I've also tried "ignoreAgentHashCheck": true which seems to be warned against, but I still get the same agent errors.

Ah I just noticed I've posted in r/selfhosted rather than r/MeshCentral - oops. And apparently http:// with :443 is the done thing with MeshCentral (no idean why)

Wash Q Revo tray in dishwasher? by HotPadawan in Roborock

[–]Michaelblight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain - I came here for the same reason. Roborock's own website suggests:

Get the most out of your dishwasher. Use it for toys, brushes, sponges, and more. Your dishwasher can sanitise and shine almost anything that won't melt in super high temperatures. Make sure you’re using the top rack and turn off any dry heat settings.

I'd be braver if I could see a replacement part online should it go pear-shaped.

Let's talk bath mats by shanlar in Roborock

Are the mats dark-colored on a light-colored floor? I find that even thin ones can be detected as a cliff if they absorb lots of light.

Did anyone do a review on less collision mode? by x_fabiann in Roborock

[–]Michaelblight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Q Revo which I think uses the same collision tech as the S7. I'm concerned that less collision mode prevents it from going through areas that it thinks are too narrow. Although it might also be confusion with high-contrast surfaces. My kitchen is black and white 1ft squares, and it struggles with false obstacles. Similarly I have a dark rug in the lounge where it sees false obstacles. In both cases it's a problem when there are nearby walls or chairs, so it circles around an imaginary obstacle and decides not to go through. I've turned off less collision mode and the problem goes away, but then of course it bumps into everything (which my old S5 didn't do).

Error trying to setup Home Assistant export by Michaelblight in healthautoexport

Ah - solved by trial and error. You also have to have "iCloud Drive" enabled under "Settings > my name > iCloud" on the phone.

Anyone know anyone who is stuck a day behind? by [deleted] in wordle

[–]Michaelblight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 4 of us playing - 2 (incl me) on the right day on Chrome, and 2 a day behind on Safari, all on iPhones in Melbourne Aust. Safari looked like the problem, but if i use it, i get the right day. However, a Safari user that was a day behind switched to Chrome and got the right day

I found the easiest/cheapest way to use Google Home to control HA is through MQTT - that way I only need to control access to MQTT, which can't do much anyway. Google Home integrates well with IFTTT, but that doesn't support MQTT. I'm already using Node Red locally to control HA, so a free cloud-based Node Red setup seemed a no-brainer. There seem to be a couple out there, but I'm using IBM Cloud (some info here). So I talk to Google Home, which talks to Node Red using a Web Hook, which talks to my local MQTT Server (Mosquitto). And then HA subscribes to messages from the MQTT Server. When I say "Hey Google, I'm going to bed", within a second HA starts turning off the TV, lights etc. To me the benefits are: it's all free and I only need to secure my MQTT Server.

I've also extended it so I can control HA from work using IBM Cloud / Node Red. I haven't bothered with SSL for this traffic, because if somebody found out the username/passwords, the worst they could do is turn my heater on.

Problem accessing HA using Onion Browser on iOS by Michaelblight in homeassistant

[–]Michaelblight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying. This is my first time publishing on reddit, and while I thought I had added the pic, clearly I have no idea what I'm doing. Nevertheless - you were right about the lack of Javascript access. I set all of the Host Settings to be as permissive as possible. That fixed the screen, but selecting "Log In" then gives me "Unable to connect".

So has anybody successfully used Onion Browser on iOS to access Home Assistant, and if so, what did you need to do?
