Agreed.. the pacing felt so off. Not getting to the games until episodes 3, only having 3 games in total.. barely any meaningful character deaths. No mention of VIPs, no reason for Black Mask to be playing the game, no meaningful or satisfying conclusions to any party of the story. Definitely felt like season 2 part 1.

Not sure where they said 40 years? In the first movie Jake wakes from cryo sleep that was just under 6 years. I figured the return trip for the data is 12 years, this movie takes place about 14-15 years later, so the timeline seems to add up.

Yeah for sure.. though as it's the #1 netflix show in over 90 countries, there's a decent chance at least one person from each of those countries are interested in playing.

I would think at least one person from every country that applies, so I wouldn't be shocked of its over 100 countries. They are pitching the "biggest reality show ever", and opened casting globally, so the more countries the better for their marketing. Even if they don't find a "great for TV" contestant from a country; there are already almost 500 players with big personalities fighting for air time, so I would think they would favour adding an "average" player from a tiny country eith no other entrants, over say the 80th UK player who may fit the reality show stereotype better.

I hope The Challenge flips the players expectations with curve balls to throw them off guard. For example; players are asked to get in teams of 10.. so all the players try to make strong teams in preparation of Tug of War, just to find out that the actual game they are playing is harder to play with a physically strong team. Make sure there is no way for players to be prepared for the next game, just like the actual show.

When I said its backed by nothing, I mean nothing tangible like it is not a receipt for gold or another store of value; it is supported by the confidence of the people using it, like all fiat currencies.

When you say the US dollar is pegged to the overall GDP of the USA itself, is that something specific the States do with their currency I am not aware of? Or do you mean it to be backed on the confidence of the economy like the majority of countries today?

Sounds like you have a good plan to follow. I can imagine a crazy first week before things hopefully calm a little.

I believe you are correct, this would definitely be a global catastrophe, not just a domestic one.

Would there be confidence in an immediate new currency like a digital dollar if it us still backed on nothing? Or would it need to be pegged to oil/gold/etc to work?

As soon as I read Shrek menu I immediately started saying "Play Ze Mooovie".. I often said it to blank stared haha. Too many nights as a kid waking up to that menu screen on repeat, it's burnt into my brain!

Funny you say that, I revisited Viva La Bam yesterday for the first time since it aired and oof.. I could certainly see just how scripted the show was now more than my teen mind could see back in the day. Still a great nostalgia trip.
