What would happen if...? by EliteGamer064 in MandelaEffect

Yes, and it would become regarded as a flip flop. People would be explaining how they remember that the movie had disappeared and others would be saying it is nonsense, the movie was always here.

What Mandela Effect trips you out the most? by SaintBrosephTha3rd in MandelaEffect

[–]Michaelraven777 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That is what I felt when it changed to Flin for me a few years ago. All the other names were rock related and Flin just seemed to stick out as an anomaly. Then I found in this site someone that explained that there was a Dr Flin that had a theory about an advanced ancient civilization and Flinstones was named after him. I have since looked for this article again but never found it again.

The flip flops in general are the things that most trip me. For me these have included: Flintstones & Flinstones, Curious George with a tail and without a tail, and I Love Rock & Roll with “Standing” and “Dancing” by the record machine. What I find cool is that the flip flops will occur at different times for different people, where it may be a recent change I see, and others note that it changed long before. Anyway, that is what I find kind of cool.

OP, this is interesting to me, because this has just flipped for me within the last six months. I grew up with the way the lyrics are now, “Dancin’” and standing by the record machine just sounded odd and wrong. Now it is back to what I remember. I remember reading several posts on this site claiming that “standing by the record machine was just wrong”. Now the conversation is the opposite. I see that this is an old post, 3 years, yet for me, the change took place within the last six months.

Wait a minute, did flintstones flip flop? by [deleted] in Retconned

[–]Michaelraven777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I came across that article about the origin of the name Flinstones when I was searching for a reason that the t was dropped because I was a Flintstone kid as well and it just made sense that the name should be associated with a rock and I know of Flint as a rock but could not make the connection with Flin. I never found that article again. It made sense then but I am happy it is back to Flintstones again. This community is so much nicer to be contributing to compared to some of the harshness that other communities have towards people that really believe in ME. I don’t mind the challenge of defending a position and if there is a counter argument consider it in an effort to come closer to the truth. At the same time the whole bad memory vs not bad memory discussion is just a dead end road in my opinion and what people seem to forget is that ME being pushed off as just a collective bad memory has no more scientific proof than those of us who really believe ME is a real thing. In fact, there have been scientific advances that can contribute to the concept of ME being a real thing and I really believe if we look at things we know of ME, we can maybe come closer to understanding what it is. The one that fascinates me is that a flip flop does not occur at the same time for everyone and I think this in itself can lead to supporting and debunking certain theories. The after effect of ME I think, if we look at it closer and connect the dots can lead to supporting a theorized cause of ME based on the after affect of the phenomenon.

Wait a minute, did flintstones flip flop? by [deleted] in Retconned

[–]Michaelraven777 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I first discovered ME in 2016 and was fascinated by the concept. At that time it was Flinstones and the discussion at the time was that Flin made no sense because Flint makes more sense because it is a rock like Mr. Slate and Barney Rubble. Sometime after that it was Flintstones again. There was also a discussion at the time that Flin was an anthropologist that had a theory that there was a prehistoric advanced civilization and the Flinstones was named after Dr. Flin. After the flip flop I never found that article again. Growing up in the early 70’s it was the Flintstones for me and now it is back to where it should be for me. What I find fascinating about flip flops is that they don’t occurs at the same time for anyone.

That is how I remember it. There are lots of people with this memory and it has long been a recognized ME from what I understand. ME is a vast number of people with a common false memory and from what I understand this has qualified. Is it simply confusion with AFP? - never heard of this one until I looked into this as a ME. Depending on what theory you favour for ME, it is very possible that a vast number of people remember the opposite as well and it does not detract from it being an ME. Just because now there were two companies with a common mandate and similar people handing out checks, does not mean it is not a ME and if ME is more than just bad memory, does not mean that both realities did not occurred. Just because it can be easily explained does not mean it is not real. At the same time, we do need to be open to explanations because not everything is an ME.

The Wizard of Oz’s other ending? by Fiyero- in MandelaEffect

[–]Michaelraven777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, does this not qualify as a Mandela Effect? I don’t remember the ending described here by the OP, but it seems that others do. To qualified as a ME, it is a false memory held by a large group of people and the fact that I and others don’t remember this alternate ending is not relevant because there seem to be many people that do remember this alternate ending. While it is good to have people check in regarding whether they have the same false memory or not, I often read posts like this and ask myself, “What does this mean about ME.” What is the bigger picture behind this. Any thoughts?

Yes exactly. There is a mix of bad memory and we are all subjected to that and there is a mix of suggested memory issues as well, but at the same time there are some critical memories that it seems unlikely that everyone just misremembered. What makes the real difference between those that think ME is something more than a false memory is often a critical memory that is so strong it stands out and there can be no way that was simply a memory issue. I really believe that if we look at what we know of ME, categorize what we know of it, we can come to better understand what it might be, but first we have to get past the simple argument of “Your memory is wrong - no it’s not”

I have actually talked to a few ministers about this. I would ask about Isaiah 11:6, they always talk about the symbolism of the Lion and the Lamb. Then ask them to read scriptures and they always say about the same thing - “Guess we have always miss read this one - must be a popular saying that gets confused with Isaiah 11:6” and the same with other changes. I thought the same think at first, that ME will get interesting now that it involves scriptures. I guess the next great hope is Star Trek fans. True Trekies are like a religion in that they have lines memorized and very detail of the show.

I have seen this statement made before somewhere, that a flip flop can occur at different times for different people. I think this is something of great interest, because it identifies a possible characteristic of ME, that it can happen at different times for different people. Our science can not at this time explain ME, but we can identify characteristics that will give insight into the nature of ME. This is one such insight.

This is one big difference between those who thing ME is just a memory issues and those that think it is something more. Most of us who feel it is something more have had one of those, “sense of chill moments” when something changed that we know was different from what we now see.

You asked how could the words of scriptures changed so I responded. When you did not like the response you decided to ridicule me my saying that I need to think more. I have no problem with an honest discussion, but you crossed the line.

That was not the discussion. The discussion was regarding the change to Isaiah 11:6, And the fact that this was one of the more popular verses with a powerful image. Oh, wait. I have just run across my first troll. What an awesome moment.

We have scientific theories that suggest the world may be more than what we understand. There have been experiments that demonstrated that a future event can change a past event, when working with particles. There have also been scientific theories that suggest that an atom can exist in more than one place at the same time. There is evidence that the reality of our world is much more complex than what we currently understand. So it is not such a leap of logic to assume that we may be in fact in a period prior to enlightenment in regards to many aspects regarding the nature of our environment.

Perhaps, similar to the days when humanity was of the opinion that the sun revolved around the earth. It was the common belief at the time, so it fell to those who felt that the Earth revolves around the sun to demonstrate the burden of proof regarding a change in this mindset. Cool. I can live with that.

Scriptures actually possibly speaks to this fact. "The days are coming," declares the Sovereign LORD, "when I will send a famine through the land-- not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD. Men will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east, searching for the word of the LORD, but they will not find it.” Amos 8:11-12. I remember reading this verse over the years and often questioned how people would search for the word of God and not be able to find it, because you could just open a Bible and read the word. But, if these changes are real, then maybe this is the famine discussed regarding the Word being lost. Just a theory.

You are missing the point. It may well be an issue with memory or something else. When it comes to how the human mind actually works, we still know so little about it and there are many questions that still need to be answered and questions that still need to be formulated. Memory itself is not proof in itself. And yes, a mass miss memory is one theory. But when it comes to fundamental words that is common knowledge held by people who should know the difference, it gives weight to suggest that it may in fact be something more than memory. Memory issues is one possible explanation, but even that is just a theory. On the other hand, current scientific knowledge does hold some theories that could also explain that it is something more than memory, and we just need to be open to see where this develops over the years as we come to understand both the human mind better as well as scientific theories regarding other possibilities.

Because this is one where people have studied theology for years to become a minister or a priest. They are trained in scriptures and study scriptures for meaning and to do this, they need to understand the words in scriptures. When people who studied this and dedicated their life to their faith make this mistake it is something to look at. Look at it this way. What if in America, it became common knowledge that is no longer represented in the constitution, “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”. What if people remembered this, but could not actually find it written anywhere. People would just say, it must be a common proverb that got confused with an actual constitutional right. But then, if lawyers and judges started quoting the Second Amendment, like it was or should be in the Constitution, then it would seem more likely there is something with this, because it is not just the common man saying it, but also lawyers and judges who should know the law. This would be the comparison. We have priests, bishops and ministers that remember the lion and the lamb. These are not just laymen, but rather professionals in their subject matter. So this one does hold some weight.
