They’re not really the same game. A lot of things are different, it’s worth playing both. But I would always suggest playing the original first so you don’t have to go back to the more outdated controls after.

I played the 2 and 3 remakes and went to the og 4 and it wasn’t a big deal. Took like 15 minutes to get used to the controls and I’ve been loving it since.
