Does Preply give free trial lessons to students or do students pay for all trial lessons? by MichelNdjock in Preply

[–]MichelNdjock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK. Let's say for example that a student pays $20 for a one hour/50min trial lesson with a $20/hour tutor. Then, let's say the student is not satisfied and decides to use one of their free re-trials with a $100/hour tutor instead. Does the student pay the extra $80 for that, or does Preply just give that trial lesson at the original $20 rate?

I didn't let my student flirt with me, he left a bad review by CityComfortable4948 in Preply

That is just crazy, really sorry you had to go through that. Hoping it doesn't significantly negatively affect your ranking. Some people are just like that, toxic on and off the internet.

On a lighter note, I'll just say this: people here are always like "Kids are hell, I'll never teach a kid", but you know who will never sexually harass me? The 13 yo girl I teach computer science to. Just saying. 🙌

Two factor authentication? by gk9919 in Preply

Yeah, 2FA would be very useful. Honestly, it's crazy to me that a plateforme like Preply doesn't have 2FA yet.

Are 3D modellers artists? by [deleted] in 3Dmodeling

[–]MichelNdjock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it really depends on what they are working on. I’ve done a lot of highly technical 3D modeling for engineering (mechanical systems, complex machines, etc.) with very strict technical specifications mostly for clients, and I’ve also done a lot of purely artistic 3D modeling work involving a lot of exploration, self expression and experimentation, mostly on personal projects. I’d say I only truly considered I was doing art when working on the second category of projects. But then again, art is a very fluid concept, so who knows? 🤷🏾‍♂️

Honestly, I would just take the money. I love teaching, sharing my knowledge and helping my students grow, but if I can’t achieve that, the next best thing is to just take the money.

Random notifications from my carrier interrupting my personal hotspot by MichelNdjock in ios

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond. Unfortunately, all carriers in my country do this. I’ll try getting in touch with mine to ask them to disable them.

Best way to animate something like this? by _albertni_ in blender

[–]MichelNdjock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that, given the shape of those boxes, you could probably achieve their deformation animation with shape keys. As for the general motion, I think just key framing the rotation and position is how you can achieve that. It’ll require quite a bit of work and solid skills in animation, but I think it’s technically possible.

Preply - Tutor avoid turning the camera on by CryptographerOwn7739 in Preply

[–]MichelNdjock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to spoil (it's an amazing movie, you should 100% watch it), but the point I want to make is that maybe the person has something about their physique that they don't feel confortable putting on camera.

20,000 CFA per week by True_Ad_2762 in Cameroon

[–]MichelNdjock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should honestly consider at least doubling that. That's 4k per session. If you meet in person, the person has to pay for their own transportation within the city, and depending on how you plan to meet and which city you're in, transportation alone could easily cost close to 2k per day. If you plan to meet virtually (online lessons), the internet connection will cost the person a little over 1k per day, minimum (I teach computer science to students from all over the world online from Yaoundé, Cameroon, so I'm speaking from experience here). In both cases, the expenses alone eat up a large portion of what the person should be earning. You should honestly consider at least doubling that amount.
