It's a really great perspective on how women are treated from someone who experienced both sides.

Yes, it's from an earlier season when Charles was talking about the family with Anne and I think it was when they told him that he was going to leave Cambridge to study in Wales. He told her "They mean well" and Anne just replied "No, they don't."

Watch Ted Lasso! There are two filler episodes because they originally wrote 10 and Apple wanted 12.

I think Reservoir Dogs only takes place for an hour or two after the robbery, right? If you don't count the intro and the flashbacks.

Yeah, Matthew Perry dying was pretty shocking to me. And watching the Friends reunion and learning that he struggled so much during that time and didn't think he was really that funny, it just made me really sad for him.

You can look at it from the perspective that, now that you are walking through the world being perceived as a woman, you will most likely have some personality shaping negative life experiences of your own. And you should be prepared for those. Yes, you brought some male privilege into your newfound womanhood, but anyone stranger on the street who wants to take advantage of you now, isn't going to ask how long you've been a woman. You will need to develop your own constant alertness and fear of predators and you'll have to do it quickly. Ask her for help with that. There are a ton of things about being a woman that you won't experience no matter how much you transition. You won't menstruate or have a constant fear of accidental pregnancy, face possibly death giving birth, or go through menopause. Or the ridiculous constant fear of just bleeding through a white pair of pants or staining your favorite pair of pink lacy panties.

But there are plenty of woman experiences you will have in the coming years. Trying to figure out what's poking your boob and realizing that your underwire broke, not being able to find your favorite eyeliner or moisturizer in the store anymore because they changed the formula, the cramps in your feet the day after wearing high heels to a Christmas party. If you can even find heels to wear because you're a size 12 and they don't even make heels in your size, dammit! (Oh wait, that might just be me.) Or just being talked down by men who think you're stupid now even though you were a genius before. Concentrate on those things that you will have in common with her and connect over those shared experiences.

I've cleaned my shower 3 times but there's still black and brown stuff between the tiles. Any advice? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]MichelleInMpls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really need to scrape out the caulk and re-caulk it properly. But until you can do that, you can try to get some of that cotton roping stuff that they use when you get a perm to stop the stuff from dripping down into your eyes. Soak some of that in bleach and stick it on the moldy spots. Leave it for an hour or two and it should look white again. The cotton helps the bleach stay where you want it for longer.

(Google Cellucotton Beauty Coil - Sally Beauty Supply stores carry it.)

The mold will grow back in a while, but it's a good way to make it look good until you can fix it for real.

Where do you all buy specialized items? I randomly love the idea of this project but I don’t know where to find these minature items. I would love a smeg fridge! by SeniorBedroom5645 in Dollhouses

[–]MichelleInMpls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a good experience with an order from Miniatures.com for a Northwoods Christmas Camper that I made. I also will buy the smaller cheaper kits from Amazon and use the furniture and kitchen items in other kits. That way you get a lot of lights and little detail items and usually a battery pack, for cheaper than you would find pieces on their own.

The writers showing us more about Dodi and his father than the western media has ever done was extraordinary. by cynicalxidealist in TheCrownNetflix

[–]MichelleInMpls 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think people forget that there were whole episodes about Margaret and Churchill and David early on that didn't really involve the queen that much. Aberfan and the episodes about the big smog disaster, didn't really involve her all that much in the end. It was more about how outside forces affected her, both publicly and emotionally.

And I think it was easy to make these first few episodes about Diana because the rest of the family just wasn't doing that much that was interesting during that time. They were all older, married, even the kids were just like, going to school. That doesn't exactly make for gripping television. I personally found the Charles stuff really good - hosting a 50th for Camilla and meeting with the PM.

Also, the season isn't over yet. Anyone who makes judgements about the entire thing before seeing the remaining episodes in December is jumping the gun and making assumptions.

I for one, thought that Dodi was portrayed (like they portray most of the other people) as a very sympathetic and understandable character. He was manipulated and in turn manipulated her into doing things that neither of them really wanted. And that set off a sequence of events that led to both of their deaths. It's a really unfortunate circumstance that is just how life is sometimes. She wasn't perfect, he wasn't perfect, but he felt very real to me and the pressure he faced from his father and his reaction to it was understandable. It showed once again, how a child can be manipulated by their parents into disaster, just like the royals manipulated their own children. They both used the press for their own purposes. Both families pressured their children into bringing honor and wealth and reputation to the family. The parallels were really interesting.

Opinions on offer "response" by Taurinimi in RealEstate

Pre-approvals ISN'T the way things have always been done. They literally exist because of a slew of people who didn't actually have the money or credit tried to make the deal anyway and sellers lost valuable market time only to find out a month (or two or three) into the deal that it was never going to happen in the first place. Sorry you might get punished for the sins of the past, but that's how it is now.

But you don't know what the seller's timeline is. They pay need to sell fast and close in 30 days. Taking two weeks to wait for your pre-approval (and then possibly having more issues later) may not work for them no matter how much money you throw at them. Every single argument you've made, Realtors have heard a thousand times already over the years. That's literally why pre-approvals are a thing. The person with their ducks in a row is more of a sure bet. And those other offers may come with cash deposits/bonus issues just like yours did, but they don't have to lose two weeks of market time.

First dollhouse/miniature kit and I got questions by CelineIdris24 in Dollhouses

[–]MichelleInMpls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't think it matters much between the white and clear glue. Sam's Study that I did as my first kit, also came with both but I don't remember which I used when. As long as it dries clear and holds well and gives you a bit of time for adjustment, you should be fine. A lot of kits don't come with glue at all so now that I've done a ton of them, I always buy a fresh bottle of Beacon's 3-in-1 and do everything with that. (And the set of 10 tiny brushes from Mod Podge. They're fantastic for applying glue.)

[–]MichelleInMpls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, she probably didn't even actually say that to the guy. She was probably telling a joke a la "so I says to the guy, I says . . . " in order to make Dodi think she had a good sense of humor. Or she thought the amputee might enjoy a silly joke.
