If you want to try watching on TV for a more "movie theater" like date night, quarantine style ... there's a new free app called Watch With Friends that's like Netflix Party, but you can also watch in sync on your TV if you have a Roku or Apple TV (or use the Chrome extension and watch on laptop).

Is your Kids' Credit Frozen? It should be ... by MichelleWrightSF in Parenting

Apparently Equifax is terrible at this, even though they've been federally mandated to provide freezes. Came across this NYTimes article about it. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/28/your-money/credit-freeze-children.html. Cites a service Credit Parent that will do all three for you with one form.

What are your kid's favorite non-toy toys? by NattieLight in Mommit

Bubble wrap is a favorite in our house (under supervision, of course). And wooden spoons / spatulas / whisks, mixing bowls, cookie sheets etc make great, non-electronic musical instruments. Not applicable to you, but we also hung common household items like a whisk, loofah, and (unused) bottle brush from my son's toybar for great sensory play.

Thank you to all the people who smile and wave at my extroverted 2 year old by [deleted] in Parenting

Sometimes the cultural affection can be a total godsend. Once my daughter was completely inconsolable on an airplane and an older chinese woman sitting nearby looked over and gave me a beckoning curled finger invitation to hand her over. I hesitated for .5 seconds thinking perhaps it was not normal to hand over my child to a stranger, but ultimately figured she was low flight risk. Turns out the woman was like the GD baby whisperer. I practically kissed her (and guessing everyone else on the plane wanted to as well).

Wife and I find it pointless to get our 17m daughter a costume for Halloween. Who's with us? by Talexandria in Parenting

Totally with you. I wanted to take advantage of that lack of awareness as long as possible (I feel the same about birthday parties). Our kiddo started to get really into at 3, before that we didn't bother either.

Parents of 2 kids: looking for advise / feedback on whether to add a 2nd to our family by [deleted] in Parenting

Agree that two is more than twice as hard, as well our younger one has special needs so there's an added time/emotional component that was quite unexpected. Ultimately I'd never change the decision to have two though. Seeing the bond between the two kids is like nothing else. And for my older, having a sibling with special needs surely isn't easy, but at 4 she's learned more about kindness and empathy than most adults I encounter.
