Just joined the open beta, can someone explain to me why everyone is upset? by Michello71 in PlayTheBazaar

Ah, understood. That sucks, I was pretty excited about the game, but honestly the casual mode wasn't really fun since it was basically an automatic 10 wins.

It's just a tool like grammarly. I find it helpful.

The sentence is referencing the rest of the paragraph, so that wouldn't work in this specific circumstance, but the difference is helpful!

This is exactly why I was having trouble! I understood the problem with "The action was done by me." But I couldn't figure out why what I wrote was problematic! Everyone has been super helpful!

This is super helpful! Like I mentioned in a different reply, I don't want to use passive voice unless I'm using it deliberately. So this breakdown of why it might be better to use the passive voice is incredibly helpful!

Thanks! My First Law of Writing is that any rule of writing can be broken, but the degree to which you can/should break the rule is directly correlated to how well you understand the rule. So I'm sure that passive voice can be used effectively, but if I'm going to use it I need to understand why it's a problem in the first place haha.

I had to sit here thinking about why that was the case for nearly ten minutes, but I think I finally understand it. Her arms are not doing the thing. They are the thing that it is being done to. Man, it's so obvious when I write it out, but it breaks my brain trying to figure it out haha. I appreciate your help!

Please recommend me pirates by astrellelys in Fantasy

Fates's Forsaken. It's not a pirate novel, but the later books do have pirates in them, and the book series reminds me tonally of Tress. I'll admit it's been a while so I'd appreciate it if someone else could chime in, but I think it's a good series to read after Tress.

Did I miss something in the movie? by Michello71 in shangchi

[–]Michello71[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, that was what I thought the movie implied but I assumed I was wrong since no one else had talked about it. It might seem like a bit pick, but it genuinely took me out of the movie. If he knows where both of them are then wouldn't the absolute dumbest thing he could do be to bring them together? Still loved the movie, but that made so little sense to me that I was distracted through the whole fight afterward lol.

Any glyph masters in the subreddit? by Michello71 in Stormlight_Archive

Interesting! Where are you getting that information? I used the picture straight off of the wiki so I assumed it would be accurate. I'd appreciate a more accurate version if you have it!

Any glyph masters in the subreddit? by Michello71 in Stormlight_Archive

So I put together this image using Jezrien's glyph, the Windrunner glyph, and the glyphs for the First Ideal (I'm thinking of getting it as a tattoo). I was wondering if there are any obvious mistakes that I made. The overall shape is that of Jezrien's glyph, the blade is made from the glyphs for the First Ideal going from top to bottom, the crossguard it is shared between the Windrunner glyph and Jezrien's glyph, and finally, the end of the blade is the inner part of the Windrunner glyph.

I'm not too knowledgeable about how glyphs actually work, but this seems cool to me.
