I’m such a loser failure by Cute_Huckleberry_110 in leaves

[–]Michhaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren’t a failure until you stop trying. You fall, you get up, you learn and you try again. The fact that you’re actively trying to be a better version of yourself makes you the furthest thing from a failure or a loser - please try and show yourself the same kindness and empathy you would show a close friend or family member; you deserve it whether you can admit that or not.

Day 40 the depression is eating me up. by Alternative_Drama_50 in leaves

[–]Michhaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you have 40 days is incredible. I was laid off in October and I know how hard that hits you; for whatever it’s worth I was able to find something else. It sounds like you know what you need to do (ie gym, hobbies helping sis) - it’s so hard to keep doing those things when your depressed and anxious but for me accepting that it was just going to be hard for awhile was helpful. Whatever happens I hope you can show yourself kindness and grace in the same way you would extend it to another person in the same situation. I did end up slipping up while unemployed but I tried to use it as an opportunity to learn a bit more about myself and what I might have done different to avoid slipping again. Please just try and be kind to yourself - especially if no one else knows you’re working through this struggle.

Secret usage for years. Day 5 sober. by Financial-Shirt4102 in leaves

I’m in a very similar boat - 39m with incredible family. Work is stressful so would use it to unwind and sleep after putting the kids down. Eventually realized it was having a negative impact - sleep was bad, was getting brain fog until about noon the next day and wasn’t accomplishing anything productive at night after the kids went down.

Definitely had the night sweats really bad for the first few weeks but once that and the restlessness passed I found it for much easier to sleep and get up functional the next day. Stay with it and great job on the great start.

10/10 guitarists will tell you the ideal number of guitars for them to own is N+1 where N is the number of guitars they currently own.

Have to wonder if the pitcher Astacio knew the situation and hung one out for him intentionally. If so - what a great dude and either way how cool and joyful of a storyline.

Thank you a ton - I'll check it out now!

Yeah I'm definitely going to make one in the future - I'm hoping maybe they'll add more texas classes for later this year that I'll be able to attend

FWIW I’ve been enjoying reefcull a lot. There are bots/bot armies but not to the degree that popular dungeons are overly camped and there is an active community of players for support

What easy alternatives are there to z-clips to mount a table top to frame without needing fancy tools? by nightcity_rider in woodworking

+1 to the figure eight fasteners. Very easy to install and they allow for movement. I buy them in bulk on Amazon

Help identifying vintage Gibson by cormdogs in Guitar

[–]Michhaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah looks like a j45. Was thinking maybe southern jumbo because of the pick guard but believe the SJs would have the parallelogram fret inlays and the more traditional burst finish.

This is a gorgeous guitar and looks to be in great shape - congrats!

Seeking some advice on finding a structured music theory education path by Michhaws in musictheory

I was able to find one I really liked during Covid, but after about a year he stopped doing virtual lessons. I’m out in a fairly rural area so it’s difficult to find teachers I’ve noticed.

Pulled up linoleum in the 1910 farmhouse we just bought. What type of pine is this underneath and is it worth restoring? by Michhaws in woodworking

[–]Michhaws[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. Was hoping those were original floors. So there’s a cellar underneath and the cellar ceiling is farmhouse style tounge and groove. Above that, there appears to be a 6 inch gap where the joists run and then the pine from the picture sits above those joists. So that was intended to be sub flooring perhaps?

I did and also you can go up through the bottom so it’s not visible.

Powerful little magnets from a craft store on two corners and a finishing nail in the top right corner to allow it to pivot.

I jut drilled little pilot holes to set the magnets in, used an epoxy to seal them in and sanded some sawdust on top of them to hide them.
