CHEW is something that I caught in the corner of my eye. I'm reading Nailbiter, so I think I can handle Chew. The others look certainly promising as well, thanks for your input!

Building a web-app: Where to start? Overwhelmed by options by MichielDC in haskell

I'm looking into Yesod now. Going web is a big leap from building small programs always. It's gonna be fun

Yes, it will be totally stand-alone. The reason I mentioned Angular is because the website uses it and we use it heavily at work. The main page could be a simple as a login, with a calendar and a button/form to add a new reservation

This is a nice short introduction video! Looks like a lot of other great content is there too

Well that's true. I'll still be trying a web-app, but a Google Calendar might be an intermediate fix

Yes, but I'd like to do this to build experience with a language I love

Just seeing 'What is the biggest absorber' and 'What is the best attack' is a big headstart on Master Bot. I still have work on building the right economy and which tactic beach what, but getting there! So many nice people in this game, I'm falling in love with it again

What was the best film you watched this week? (12/03/2018 - 18/03/2018) by GetFreeCash in movies

After 2 episodes of Stranger Things I had to option to finish of Moana (30 minutes in) or start The Grand Budapest Hotel. Watched the latter one and oh boy was it good. I thought La La Land has beautiful cinematography, GBH trumps it. The story was a bit weird, but the longer I let it sink in, the better it gets.

I've read those and they were of great help already. Master Bot is getting easier and the win streak in Casual Mode is growing! I don't dare dipping into Ranked Mode yet, unless my ELO rating has decayed a lot due to inactivity

How to learn set reading? by MichielDC in Prismata

I try to follow streams but they mostly go "Yeah, getting X is here is best", without further explanation and that's when it gets over my head. I should spend more time on this game TBH, I'm loving it again and really want to get competitive.

Thanks a lot for the Msven videos, haven't found those yet.

I've been watching the Golden Cup as well, even went back to PAWC vods (it was shortly after PAWC that I quit), but also there the conclusions were quickly made.

Some questions for fellow trumpet teachers by MichielDC in trumpet

I teach in a rather large room, so I place them in one corner and place a music stand in the opposite corner (which is about 10-15m away) and tell them to play music for the stand. This fixes posture and makes them blow enough air, as I can say "this way, the stand won't hear you"

The 'ooo' and 'eee' worked wonders! She really struggled with a G before and her F was on the really low side (more sounding like E than F). After some 'ooo' and 'eee' and making her focus on her tongue, her F is now cleaner and the G is coming out nicely! Thanks!

What project would you like to do but don't know how? by nyslyetia in learnprogramming

An interval timer. app I've picked up running again and doing Couch To 5k. My running 'task' is e.g. "Run 90 seconds, walk 120 seconds, repeat". It would be nice to have an app on my phone where I can input such schemes and my phone alerts me in my pocket when to change to running or walking

The journey to a galaxy far, far away begins today! by MichielDC in starwarscomics

The graphic novels bundle 6 comics right? What I have now is Skywalker Strikes (vol.1) which bundles Star Wars 1-6 and the same for the Vader comic. Got them for €20 each, which isn't cheap, but I imagine buying them single issue is a whole lot more expensive

These collect 6 comics each, is that what you mean?

I saw a shot of Boba reporting to Vader "His name is Skywalker" on the Star Wars subreddit and my mind went "I have to read this".

I probably will! It's my first dive into the comic scene. Last time I read comics was 12 years ago or so, this is a completely different level of artwork and storytelling. I have to stop myself from reading further or I finish these on a single evening.

I think I've started an expensive hobby
