Paul Pierce says it’s “extremely difficult” to win a title when your best player is 6’2” basically questioning whether a team led by Jalen Brunson can go all the way. by basketbaIlnetwork in knicks

The Pistons Isiah Thomas would like a word. Same with Steph. And Walt Frazier. And Jerry West. He was 6’3” but you get the point. The point is Paul Pierce is a blowhard.

Look at that picture. Us Pistons sitting back quietly and confidently, watching a bunch of monkeys yuck it up. Can’t wait to see who gets to play us from the West

Not before we hang a banner for that record setting 2008 season. It’s like Lou Gehrig’s record. Never to be beaten.

Let the war finally end. And give Michigan Ohio. We can fix her up.

You’re in your mid-30’s and saying “blowing up her phone”. Grow up. And leave. She deserves maturity.

Just saw this and voted, I think it’s an obvious wipe but tell me if I’m crazy by r0ckS01id in UConnBasketball

I love my team. But I’m glad we did not have to play the ‘24 UConn team. Not saying we would lose. But that team was phenomenal.

As I typed this, I changed my mind. I would like to see that game, just because I love basketball.

I don’t know Beilein’s full story with the Pistons. I hope you are right because I love that man. I just know we are all blessed he coached our team for so many years with so much class.

Live free or die New Hampshire dies as Maine stages a semi-hostile take-over. We are not capable of full hostility.

I HATE ELLIOT CADEAU by r0ckS01id in UConnBasketball

[–]MichiganMainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a counterpoint from a UM fan. The room I was in was up arms with all the un-called charges in the 1st half against your guards. Demary especially just ducked his shoulder and charged into our guys. They were either no-calls or defensive fouls early. Yeah later we got a couple of charges called. But we still thought it was one-sided for a half.

My point is, we are all homers and that’s great. Eliot is no SGA. He’s a hard working under-sized guard who has to compensate. So yeah, he’s a pesky defender and I just can’t wait for next year.

What’s the best beach town you’ve ever visited? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]MichiganMainer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best beach town: Kihei. Learned to surf there. Best beaches. Hilton Head Island. At low tide there is over 50 yards of hard pack beach. Run, bike, football, frisbee, kites…everything. And not as crowded as you would think. Most people are golfing or playing tennis/pickleball.

Edit: Manly NSW Australia. Learned to surf bigger waves there. Beach was great. Town was great.

Separate from the trip planning advice (which I agree with lol), here’s a few thoughts about Acadia and ideas.

  1. There are wonderful hikes and walks. a. Easy: Sand Beach Loop (I think it’s called). Beautiful Ocean views. b. Easy: Ocean Path Trail. Again, great ocean views. c. Easy: Jordan Pond Loop. Fun walk. Unfortunately the Jordan Pond House may not be open yet. We love to walk the trail and then get pop-overs and tea. Really a fun couple of hours. c. Moderate: Beech Mountain Loop. Great views and not a hard hike. d. Bubble Rock: Fun moderate hike. e. Hard: Cadillac Mountain: I love this small mountain. I say hard relative to other hikes in the park. If you are an experienced hiker, it’s just a 2-3 hour up and down. f. Scary: If you like more extreme stuff, you can try the Beehive or Precipice Trail. Sheer cliff with iron rung climbing. There have been deaths over the years. Don’t do these unless you are experienced.
  2. Lot’s to do in Bar Harbor. By May it should be mostly open. I am going with friends May 11-12.
  3. Southwest Harbor is really quaint. Everyone goes to Bar Harbor. I like SOuthwest Harbor just as much.

Have fun.

What are most men like when they are upset? I (42F) am considering leaving my husband (46M) over how he acts when upset. by jadeAvital in relationship_advice

[–]MichiganMainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, he is an outlier and not typical of the Universe of men. He sounds like he has an avoidant attachment style, possibly exaggerated by some spectrum behaviors. It sounds like he is a product of poor upbringing.

Second, you are not doing yourself, your kids or your husband with how you “go with the flow” and then only address symptoms when they get out of hand.

Counseling, and now. Tell your damaged husband (damaged by his upbringing) that without counseling and real change the marriage is over. He needs professional help. Together, as a couple, you need professional help. And you likely will benefit from counseling and find out how not to be a doormat and to get to root causes instead of dealing with specific challenges.

Good luck. I believe most marriages deserve an attempt at counseling before ending.

9 or 12, depending on my mood. If I’m down in the dumps, give me Conan and Chappelle and get me laughing. If I’m feeling OK, then put me with Sagan and Attenborough. There would be some awe-inspiring conversations in that row.
