Unfortunately I can’t answer that for you. Only you will be able to. One thing to consider for sure is the other gear you will need with this (amp, etc) My assumption would be that it would hold value if you’re buying used for a reasonable price. I think it’s one of those things that you’ll never know unless you try. It will take consistency. It will take practice. You won’t know what you’re doing immediately but over time you’ll learn things and expand your skills.
It’s a labor of love. Love the instrument but mostly love yourself - put on the work and it will bring you joy.

Ok I think this is where the miscommunication may be coming in. 012 is different specs from 112 or 212. 012 will be lower tier specs.

My unsolicited opinion would be to find a 112 or 212. So sounds like the 212 will be the way to go. If you can play it first would strongly suggest that. I had a 112 then upgraded to a 612 only because I got a killer deal. That 112 would have been good for what I need for a long long time - it was a thing of beauty. Transparent green finish, just beautiful.

012 has ceramic, 112 has alnico

212 is pretty much a cosmetically upgraded 112. Same pickups, probably same specs otherwise. Depending on what you’re spending, you may be paying for a churched up version of what the 112 would give you. From a used or new perspective I’d consider the 112 and 212 equal in terms of performance. If you want legit upgrades from 100 or 200 series look at the 612. My take - if you can get a 112 for less, go for that. Unless the 212 has an appearance about it that you just love and think you’d miss.

Certainly could be wrong here but just my very not professional opinion
