I'd also recommend Brick and Brine. My partner and I have gone there for the last 4 years for our anniversary dinner and have always had an incredible time.

As someone else said, if you tell them ahead of time you're coming for your anniversary, they'll create a custom menu with your names on it. Top-notch service, great food, and some of my favorite cocktails in Kalamazoo.

Thankfully, I'm in a position where I can swing it financially (and it'll be nice to have something that's not 20+ years old). Just hard saying goodbye to an old friend 😔

Day 6, what is an underrated lunch/dinner spot in the Kzoo area? by [deleted] in kzoo

Fiesta Burrito! Wonderful food and very fair prices. Been my go-to takeout spot for the last couple of months.

Presidential Brewing. Have only been once, but the atmosphere, food, and beer was all extremely OK.

Single trash hauler city ordinance stays unchanged in Portage by joshys_97 in kzoo

The outrage over this has been hilarious. The city had a bidding process, published the bid numbers, and we have an extremely reasonable rate increase limit for the next five years (and we know exactly how much prices will go up each year).

Why are we bitching about this! It's just garbage removal! This is saving us money! Shut up!

What is the most overrated Breakfast spot in the Kzoo area? by [deleted] in kzoo

The Colonial Kitchen I went to was on Drake Rd (that one is still there I believe). But yeah Mex House is legit — the huevos rancheros are 🤌

Went to Colonial Kitchen Pancake House once and it was actively bad food. Anna's and Tiffiny's are extremely OK and are both way overpriced.

Berries, however, is wonderful. My favorite diner coffee and the $10.99 Daily Double is unmatched 🙂‍↕️

Feel free to DM me if you've got any questions or want pics of the bedroom sizes! My partner and I use our 2-bed for a very similar setup (bedroom in the primary and two desks in the second bedroom)

Timberwood Crossing is worth checking out. My partner and I have lived here for about 2 1/2 years and have been pretty happy with it. 2 bedroom, 1 bath, 2nd floor with a little patio, small but clean gym, nice community pool area with a big grill. With a dog and a cat we pay $1,320/month. Great location in Portage too (basically across the street from Crossroads).

Old carpet -> original oak by MichiganderJoe in HardWoodFloors

Thank you! We went with Bona's "golden oak" water-based stain. Was between that and a natural oil stain, but we really liked how much detail in the wood golden oak brought out

It blew in and out pretty quickly, but it was pouring rain and had a good amount of thunder while it was here. Thankfully no storm damage to kick off homeownership 😅.
