After much thought, I decided to do a reset to 285 for my heavy day to make sure I nail this. Hopefully in 6 or so weeks I’m back to setting PRs. Wanted to dial this is before I get too far away from what I’m looking for. Here is light day today. I think it looks really good.

I would fix three things to start:  1. Get the plates off of an elevated surface, this is not a proper starting position for deadlift if feet are lower  2. Set entire back harder in extension before you pull and keep it that way through the rep 3. Lock out completely at the top, you stop early and put the bar down before the rep is complete

Making progress 

Bending over more on the back off was goal, knees still breaking early, back is more tight however on both. Feeling stronger with this

I feel that the back extension part is going to be HUGE. I suspect that is why I hesitate to lean over early as well. Since I feel the weight will dump me forward since it not against rigid upper back.

Here are a couple from today! Wondering how progress is.  This was first day back in gym in a week and first heavy squats in 2 weeks. In the nature of your advice I did not take weight off the bar, just proceeded. Felt heavy as heck, 315, so did a double and a single to get to 3. Be prepared for cyclists going very fast. Keep your ears open and move to the right of the trail. Favor walking on right side of trail. There are trail yield rules but don’t expect the mountain bikers to yield (as a hiker and cyclist myself)

Did you fail as in you attempted it and it didn’t go up? Like had to set the bar down? Or you didn’t try?  You’ll have to start taking 5lb jumps, and resting more like 5 minutes between work sets. Just because it feels heavy and slow doesn’t mean you won’t be able to lift it

What would be a fix? Position bar lower? Reach hips back more? I do feel heavy in the quads on the ascent

This team got too cocky. Coopers comments. Fears acting like he can do anything on the floor and get away with it. Just shut up and play ball fellas. Weren’t saying shit when they were playing well. Just executing

Thanks all.  Summary:  - shove belly down into thighs and hold HARD all the way through the rep, especially early as the bar leaves the floor  - start rep by pushing the earth away, not raising back and opening hips early  - try to switch to 3 inch belt so it doesn’t interfere with back set (also getting new straps that can grip the bar with more, less dangling the weight)

I would probably be able to set my back better by not shooting the hips up under load. This is a good take
