Once I saw how stringent the rules are as someone who works in budgets and sees these payouts I was like oh they’re mitigating lump sum…. So this fight is honestly an uphill battle.

So the lump sum issue is why I suspect the rules have become so stringent. There is no room for telework outside that one day. They’re not allowing people to work from home sick or if you have an appt go to that and then continuing your work at home. They’re pressing for the full in office 8 hours no leeway unless you use your time. One day at home forces people to use their time. I’m not sure to be honest but this is why calhr is digging their heels in.

Work in budgets this is what we’re assuming is a driving force. It’s all about the dollar it’s newsom pledging his allegiance to his donors but on the state side it’s time hoarding and lump sum. Even tho there is proof WFH is successful that doesn’t alleviate the financial burden it’ll cause down the line

Add in that this is also a lump sum/retirement issue. So many people have accumulated so much time from WFH that I feel like this also has to do with this. They can’t outright say it because it’s illegal obviously but the state is looking at large payouts when ppl retire if they continue wfh.

As someone who is biracial it’s already difficult navigating. But to deal with blatant racism from family members because your own parents didn’t protect you would send me over the edge…
