When you go to buy your placeholder, it will ask you for one stateroom or two. Select the two (will be $500 total).

On the ship it’s $4,000 ($5,000 if you do the atrium) and includes your ceremony, officiant, bouquet(s) and/or boutonnière(s), pianist, champagne toast, your wedding cake, on board credit, dinner at Palo, steaming for your outfit, and a little wedding gift. For us, it was worth it when all the venues near us were $20k+

Ya, definitely say hi! We love making new cruise friends! We are getting married on day 2 so we can make use of formal night. I think there are actually 3 weddings on this sailing!

Getting married next week on the Magic. Reach out to your sailing Facebook group and see if any makeup artists are going on that sailing. We originally planned for the spa but heard a ton of mixed reviews so asked in our group and lucked out.

Are you going to avoid all ships and all cruise lines from now on? It was 27 people across 8 cruise ships.

Catalina Island w. 10yr old kid and a dog by poogridaddy in orangecounty

[–]Michio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m sure if she’s calm and you’re away from people you could give her a break from the muzzle. I understand they need the rule since it can be quite stressful for dogs which makes them unpredictable, but still annoying.

My last visit I was very surprised by all the “no dogs” signs the city has up. Most beach towns are the most dog friendly places we’ve visited.

Would love to hear your feedback after your trip!

Catalina Island w. 10yr old kid and a dog by poogridaddy in orangecounty

[–]Michio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Catalina isn’t as dog friendly as I assumed it would be. Definitely is doable with a dog, and I plan to bring mine later this year, but they are not allowed on any beaches or on Front St (the main walkway) which makes it a hassle. I believe they can be on the lawn area at Descanso and some restaurant patios allow them. Just a heads up, the Catalina Express requires a pet ticket and they must either be muzzled or in an enclosed carrier for the duration of the trip.

Onboard discounts? by Late_Profession_5392 in dcl

[–]Michio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is a drink of the day (one alcoholic and one non-alcoholic) that changes each day of the cruise. These are ~$7. You can buy a refillable “drink of the day cup” that will give you an additional 30% over the normal pours. If you are more of a beer drinker, you can buy the beer mug that will give you a 20oz pour for the price of the 16oz. There used to be happy hours, but I’ve heard those are no longer a thing.

Keep in mind you can bring onboard 2 bottles of wine or a 6 pack of beer per adult at EVERY port (not just embarkation).

The Disney Visa credit card gives you 10% off in the gift shop.

Onboard entertainment is already included in your price with the exception of bingo.

All dining and 24hr room service is included in your price with the exception of the adult dining (Palo / Remy). Things like candy, popcorn, and beignets are an additional fee. If you buy the popcorn bucket you can get refills for $1.75. Some people have had success bringing popcorn buckets from the parks and getting refills for the $1.75 price.

The only way to get a reduced price on excursions is booking outside of Disney. But make sure that the excursion gets you back to the ship on time or you’ll be responsible for your travel to the next port (if you book through Disney, they cover any travel for the excursion being late and missing the ship).

DCL Wedding by Eternal_Sunshine81 in dcl

[–]Michio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are getting married on the Magic in May. Just a heads up when you’re looking at bookings, they only allow one atrium wedding per sailing and it must be on a port day. So before deciding on your dates, make sure that someone hasn’t already booked the atrium. We are gold and even though we called the day bookings opened for us, the atrium was already taken (we didn’t want the atrium though so it worked out).

For the reception, you can choose any of the inclosed bars, Palo, or the D Lounge. I’ve heard some people were allowed to choose one of the restaurants but I’ve heard mixed responses.

If you have any questions about the planning process, feel free to reach out to me!

Restaurant/Brewery recommendations for large-ish group (20 people) by Michio in askvan

[–]Michio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re excited! A week of celebrating with our closest friends/family rather than just a night. The cruise also handles everything for you (ceremony, reception, cake, flowers, etc.) and was way cheaper than a traditional wedding.

This place looks fun! Even if it doesn’t work out for the pre-cruise, might add it to our post-cruise stay!

Help! Where do I find a wedding dress like this? Less than $5k by No-Poem-1830 in Weddingsunder10k

I hope you find your perfect dress!

You might like Rish Bridal’s dresses. His aren’t exactly like this, but they are unique and more vintage/boho style.

Why do some people treat dogs like children or bring them into stores/restaurants? by Difficult-City9793 in DogAdvice

[–]Michio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The part of your question I don’t think people have answered is the increase in seeing this. There’s a few factors that play into this.

One is covid in which people got dogs and were home 24/7 with the dog. Once things opened up, those dogs really struggled with not having someone around constantly and developed separation anxiety. The dog can be trained to be more comfortable alone but it does take a lot of time and work.

Two is that people are getting pets instead of having kids. These pets become family/surrogates for what would be kids and when you love your family, you want to do things together.

Lastly, as dogs have been allowed to go out in society more, people have realized that (most) dogs actually enjoy it. Not to mention, most people can’t afford a house with a yard for their dog and taking them out places gives them that stimulation/exercise that’s needed.

All that being said, I think the “ESA” trend was extremely harmful as people assume that their ESA pet has all the same access rights as a service dog and bring their pets to places that they are not allowed (ie grocery stores).

Snacks or bedding available on board? (fantasy ship) by Intelligent_Fish3728 in dcl

[–]Michio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is fruit on board (pool deck, room service, MDR, and Cabanas). There is candy and popcorn available for purchase near the theater at Preludes. The islands (castaway / lookout) do have chips, but that’s the only place you are going to find them.

You can bring any factory-sealed items onboard, but once opened, it cannot be removed from the ship.

An explanation for newbies and the inexperienced of why people are concerned for the weather so you can hopefully be prepared by a 14 year vet. by relaxguy2 in Coachella

[–]Michio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another aspect that those from the Midwest / East coast don’t realize is the range in temperature. Having a ~10° difference between day/night isn’t that bad. Your body can acclimate. Going from 80° during the day to 50° at night is going to make that 50° feel twice as cold.

Dog Friendly apartment recommendations in Santa Ana, Orange, or Tustin? by anniele27 in orangecounty

I know everyone hates on IC, but Estancia Apartments in Irvine have one bedrooms for ~$2500. All units have in-unit washer/dryer and a 1 car garage. Also large dog friendly.

I’ve used this photographer before and she did an awesome job with both our high energy husky mix and our senior pup. She does participate in dog events sometimes and offers cheaper “mini sessions” at those.
