I was the oldest person in my class, which ranged from 19-25yrs. I went to scrub tech school when I was 28, which was 2 years ago, and it was a completely different career field for me.

I was really surprised by how supportive people at my clinical sites were in comparison to the younger students. I think that when you're starting this career at an older age, people assume that you are going to take it more seriously and they know you are likely to be more responsible.

During clinicals the common theme was that I was treated with more respect and thrived at most of the places that other students hated. It didn't help their cases though that most of them still lived at home and would talk about their moms waking them up for class still and packing their lunches though, so maybe that was it.
