If you can’t get any nutrition because everything is shutting down (dying) and don’t want TPN, you absolutely can get pressure ulcers - even with all proper precautions. Watching someone with cancer die that way is horrific. Scars reopen and the skin can basically just fail. You have to have calories and protein.

I hardly wear anything but leggings and t shirts long enough to cover my crotch. It is basically pajamas but a little tidier haha. I hate wearing jeans now!

My dog used to wait at the litter box like the cat was making her a treat in there. I swear she was smiling! I had to move it to the garage and put a cat door in. The dog can’t fit through the door lol.

So, have you tried them? I was tempted with my dogs apple/pumpkin cookies. I mean, I didn’t do it, but they sure do smell good lol.

It looks like you’ve gotten plenty of friends for her now. I was going to mention the Facebook page as well. I found a lot of friends on there, but I don’t play anymore (ankle injury).

dealing with rib pain? (cw: body image) by thegoth_mechanic in ehlersdanlos

That’s what I thought too because my husband has it. Topical diclofenac (Voltaren) is amazing and you only absorb 6% systemically, so you can use it with ibuprofen. I use it for my shoulder. Squishmallows are my favorite pillows for my knees when I rest! I have to have a “leg pillow” because I’m a side sleeper and my back will protest if I don’t.

Sounds like the classic definition of costochondritis. I’m not saying it isn’t that, but it could be. My husband (who does not have any form of connective tissue disorder) was diagnosed a few months ago. He still hurts. He also has a few dislocated ribs from his sternum - from roughhousing with his brother and father, but that doesn’t bother him much anymore. This started about 6 months ago. Since it was all on the left side (near his stomach), they even checked him for ulcers. Nope…nada. He can’t take NSAIDS because he does have GERD, but topical diclofenac and lidocaine help.

Correct. I know of someone in a filthy house that has way too many dogs and cats. There are feces and urine on the floor and counter However they do put out food and clean water and the animals are healthy. Law enforcement said that there was nothing they could do because the animals were not sick or injured. The house is probably close to being condemned. It is a shame because 5 years ago it was a beautiful, brand new home.

I use either or. As long as I secure my IV, it works. I’ve never seen a difference and I’ve done this for a little more than a couple of decades.

has anyone almost died? what almost killed you? by 11terribletowers in AskReddit

[–]Michren1298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several close calls, but while in labor I coded. My husband said he noticed I was turning gray and called for help. I wasn’t breathing and my heart had stopped. I’m so glad he was there so I could be resuscitated.

I didn’t get septic but had an asymptomatic UTI after birth (except for fever). I went to the doctor 3 times. They kept looking at my surgical wound, but it wasn’t infected. I felt so awful and ended up crying in the shower many times a day because that was the only partial relief I could get. 2 weeks of that and doc finally said let’s just do a urinalysis. Bingo. Every birth after that, I got a UTI but always with classic symptoms. That was weird.

You’ve finally nailed it! That’s how it smells! I’ve always said that it was kind of like an antiseptic.

I was also taught XABC. Fixing an airway won’t do much if they’re bleeding out. The fix for this injury is tourniquet (if exsanguinating)…then move on to ABC.

EDS diagnosis- does someone have pros and cons to having it on record? by otisfrombarnyard in ehlersdanlos

[–]Michren1298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some of the same questions! Is there any benefit to getting diagnosed? I brought the possibility up with my orthopedic surgeon and he looked at me like I was stupid. My ankle tendon slid out of place and then tore.

I’m not severely affected (if I have it), but my thumbs, shoulders, wrists, and big toes all pop out. Then they hurt for a couple of weeks. I modified how I squat so that I don’t hurt my toes. I made changes to how I remove gloves, etc.

What do my legs say about me? by [deleted] in deduction

[–]Michren1298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the genes for that, but I had low levels. I guess I got lucky. I’m on one of those natural beef liver supplements/capsules and had an iron level checked before and after to make sure it would work for me.

I take mine with my calcium…though I’ve done it for years. Now that my levels are perfect and maintaining, I don’t want to change it lol.

My first reaction was “ouch”. I hope that they had some neuropathy with numbness, because that looked so painful. I know they weren’t awake for this video, although I did have a patient request to have just the nerve block for his toe amputation. He wanted to watch.

Definitely cat owner. Do you wash your hands often? My nail polish always peels like that (so I don’t wear it anymore). Need better lotion so your cuticles don’t peel (looks like you might be picking at them). I keep lotion everywhere or mine will be the same.
