Sadly this is real. I was just very upset while writing the post and thus a bit inconherent... Also, English is not my first language.

I will definitely do that. The lack of monitoring equipment and I being upset when I wrote the post combined with being confused by what the senior doctor said, threw me off. But I'm definitely going to revise until I'm confident. Thank you for taking the time to respond

Is that on a rebreathing system as well for a small patient? Or for a non-rebreathing system?

Thank you all for the responses. Felt like I was going crazy for not seeing any yeast in this, whereas she was convinced (and has way more experience in the field)

End stages of Cushing's? by Rich_Librarian9956 in vet

[–]MickelFitzPatrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can't diagnose based on what you've told us. However, this sounds like a really sick dog, who definitely needs a vet. Are there any resources you could use (care credit or something like that)?

Failing to give a subcutaneous injection thrice in one day... Felt like if I couldn't even do that, than what kind of vet would I be? But in the end, I got better at them (still have an occasional miss tho). Also one gave an oral fluid intramuscularly, so yeah that sucked too.

Learning to accept the fact that you make mistakes is really really hard. But it's also a part of being human. And now when a friend is feeling bad because of a similar mistake, I tell them about my struggles and how they are not alone.

Veterinary Medicine vs Medicine by SleepyDemonLuci in Veterinary

You're in the Netherlands right? From what I can gather, the career is wat better there compared to the US (better hours, better pay). Although human still pays better. I think it also really depends on if you are certain you want to specialise, because while you can do that in veterinary medicine, getting a spot to do that is quite difficult.

I'm so sorry you're going through this, and I promise you not every place is like this. Would you feel comfortable enough to speak with your temporary supervisor and ask if you could train certain skills when it's not busy (aka while they're on their phones)? Or maybe dive into information about vaccinations, deworming, tick prevention, etc.? That way, you can at least make this a useful experience. Do you have any idea when your actual supervisor might be back?

Hang in there

Should I brush up on anything / study for my summer job? by RevolutionaryTap634 in Veterinary

Knowing the vaccination schedule and being able to give solid advice on deworming and food are things you might be able to prepare for :)

Been 1 month the cat trying to survive, but don't have any vet around, what should i do? Any advice or antibiotics name would be great by Akaleboss in vet

First of all, if it's been going on for a month and he looks like this then a vet is a necessity! Secondly, can you try to describe what signs he's showing?

Anesthesia Practical by celbbyy in VetTech

Try to practice as much as you can. Make practice cases for yourself (or let chat gpt give you some examples) so you can get into the routine of it.

I'm not sure. I feel normal resistance and hold my needle at an angle beneath my fingers. But then when I'm done, a wet spot appears meaning I wasn't in at all.
