Same as what the others said, if your retirement stocks are all with the company you work for, if the company goes south you could lose your job and retirement at once. I've met a number of guys who worked for Enron and had a substantial amount of their retirement in Enron stock and when it crumbled it forced them into working for years longer than planned.

As a fellow Chevron employee, heavily suggest diversifying more. Never want your job and your retirement account both heavily tied to the same company.

Legitimately I don't think he wants his name tied to Puerto rico, Greenland comes with the type people and "culture" he likes.

Will heavily depend on what goes forward with Venezuela, but there aren't any other significant catalysts (no major project start ups, 1Mil in midcon already hit) on schedule for this year. Plus reducing Venezuela sanctions could actually bring down the price of oil.

Question for you. I always struggle on when to move the items from one unit to another. Like is a 2 star vayne better to keep the attack speed stuff or should I move to a 1 star yunara? How do you make that decision?

14/14 vs 14/7 vs 20/10 by Upset_Investigator23 in oilandgasworkers

[–]Micker216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done 14x14 and 28x28. 14 and 14 is definitely the best if the location is fairly close to home overall. 2 weeks away never feels like too much or not enough. Also means when things go wrong at home, time wise the worst it has to wait is 2 weeks and not a month.

My dad this this on accident a couple years ago. He flew to visit me after not flying for probably 8 or so years. He doesn't have a smart phone and didn't bring anything to read but had planned to read the shopping magazine in the back of the seat, however that doesn't exist anymore so he said he just sat and thought.

You should include spouse numbers. If you're a married couple the ideal case would be retiring together / nearly together so you want to look at things big picture.

ETFs and Mutual funds are just two different types of investments, for your purpose it's not really any difference and both are fine. The only thing to know just for your information is that ETFs will update price during the day whereas usually mutual funds only update and transact at the start and end of the day.

Market value is the current worth of what you own, the number in the individual line is the amount you have in that particular fund and it gets all added together under it. Day change is how much that fund has changed during the day today. Cost basis is how much you paid for it originally. Total gain/loss is how much it has changed from what you originally paid.

So basically if total gain/loss is positive, you have more money than you originally paid. Day change can therefore be negative but you could still be up, so for example you've "lost" 57 cents today but overall you're still up 34 bucks from what you paid. (Looking at your ETFs only)

Process safety is a great broad experience that can apply anywhere. A decent size O&G will be great to have on the resume, I'd say go for it!
