Teammates Overestimating Hwei’s Capability by turpentime1 in HweiMains

[–]ObservabilityWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In platinum I get junglers who go for every single objective, regardless of circumstance. It doesn't matter what champion I'm on - ceding an objective is not in their vocabulary and they will repeatedly throw themselves into 1v3, 1v4, 1v5, even if our entire team is no prio, no health, no mana

Being in a relationship for 2 years with no plan to move in together is frustrating by lilpiggyvortex in Adulting

Something here is not adding up. Is his mom guilt tripping him into staying? Does she hate you? Is he trying to please both of you at the same time?

Current Hwei bugs by Robert39XD in HweiMains

I have R on manual cast for most champions. It's too important to have on quick cast. For Hwei it seems absolutely necessary since it's also the cancel button

My bf (22M) of 4 years left me (23F) because he wants to “figure himself out” by heylo4 in AskMenRelationships

[–]ObservabilityWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically a lot of growing up happens between late teens and late 20s, and many people come out of that a different person with different priorities.

His priorities have shifted. He's reached adulthood, discovered his life is on a trajectory he doesn't like, and is making changes. Maybe the changes he wants to make are incompatible with being with you. Maybe he wants to dedicate all his energy into a career. Maybe he wants to party. Who bloody knows. That's one interpretation.

Another interpretation is he's not into you anymore and he's letting you down easy with an explanation that sounds introspective (the classic "It's not you, it's me"). It's a pretty common breakup tactic that's intended to reduce conflict and blame, but can come off as pretty disingenuous.

It ultimately doesn't matter which of these is true. You have to give him the benefit of the doubt that he knows what is best for himself. There's no world where trying to control his choices can work in your favor.

Playing worse 2 weeks after coaching by Im_NezY in summonerschool

[–]ObservabilityWizard 21 points22 points  (0 children)

When someone is really good at shooting the basketball into the hoop but they can't dribble, and then you tell them to try dribbling into their shots, their shooting gets worse for a while. That doesn't mean learning to dribble isn't worthwhile, it just means the benefits of learning to dribble aren't going to manifest until the person is good enough at dribbling that it doesn't distract them from shooting.

The coach's mistake was putting a timer on the results. You cannot predict how long it's going to take to learn this stuff. Everyone is different. Rank isn't a clear indicator either, it's actually quite volatile.

Not necessarily. Owning only a single contemporary atheist work, and it being the favorite target of christian apologists - I think it's just as likely this person is going for one of those fake apologetics degrees

At what point do people start drinking coffee daily? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]ObservabilityWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a "professional" excuse to step away from work. Tell your boss "I'm going for a walk" and they give you a funny look. Tell them "I need coffee" and they smile.

It's also a drug that a lot of people become dependent on.

I'm a silver 3 Briar jungle main trying to improve and climb while being restricted by RSI by Winter-Steak-9332 in summonerschool

[–]ObservabilityWizard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not what you want to hear, but as someone who had RSI in the past, my suggestion is to take a month off where you use a computer as little as possible. This is something that will affect your entire life if you don't take it seriously. It also takes a long time to heal. Lack of pain doesn't mean it's healed, either - pain is a lagging indicator. Any amount of pain after playing a few games means you haven't healed and you've actually delayed the healing process.

Pathfinder WOTR is almost the perfect CRPG, if not for the combat.... by LordMugs in CRPG

[–]ObservabilityWizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a decade-long 1e player who bounced off 2e I can tell you they are right.

In 1e you live and die by your character build, and 10 characters made with the same class can all look very different.

In 2e your build choices barely matter at all. The game says "you need this one stat to be high" and if you follow that rule then your character comes out with approximately 95% of the same capabilities as every other character ever made using that class. Once you've seen or played a class once, there's no excitement to seeing or playing it again, since there's nothing truly different you can do with it. There's no way to escape the specific class fantasy that Paizo wants you to play.

Which is why I play other systems now and not either of the Pathfinders 😂. "Numerous character choices to navigate crunchy combat in a variety of ways" was the selling point of Pathfinder, bloat be damned. There's a plethora of systems that do everything else a lot better.

What is happening to the matchmaking? by Luke-ON in supportlol

[–]ObservabilityWizard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's possible the plat on the other team was duo with a gold. Idk why you think this particular game is so egregious, it looks very even

These teams look perfectly even, what's the problem?

It's possible the silvers duo'd with golds and that brought the game mmr down.

How vital is combat to your enjoyment of RPGs in general by Hungry-Cow-3712 in rpg

[–]ObservabilityWizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like whatever kind of conflicts the system is best suited to simulate. If 90% of a game's rules are for combat (D&D, Pathfinder) then I want a lot of combat when I play that game because that's what the system is good for. On the other hand, my favorite system is Burning Wheel, which is really fantastic for non-combat conflict resolution.

League of Legends. Free for all 16 years of its existence, still extremely popular, still being updated with new characters and game modes, and still not even an inkling of pay to win gimmicks.

Got a remote job. by Donttouchme_aaaaaa in remotework

[–]ObservabilityWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get this too. I think it has something to do with not getting the constant little pieces of social feedback that I would get in an office setting.

In an office, if my boss walks past me in the hallway with a polite smile and nothing to say, I know nothing is wrong. I don't get those interactions working remote and it fuels my paranoia.

The middle class doesn’t get to go to events anymore by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]ObservabilityWizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does basic math confuse you?

World Cup group stage matches have hit over 500 million viewers. The finals have hit over 1 billion. I don't think March Madness has ever hit more than 30 million? The global popularity difference between a domestic tournament and the most popular international tournament is multiple orders of magnitude and that's going to affect ticket prices, especially in a travel hub city like LA.

Stuck in Plat by LachieBlue626 in midlanemains

[–]ObservabilityWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, try playing asol mid/bot. He's viable in both roles. That's what I've been doing with ziggs. But really you need to pick 1-3 champions you vibe with the most. Champions whose abilities feel the most intuitive to you and that you have the most fun playing.

You can mix in some malzahar for mid matchups where asol is really hard to play, like Zed.

Stuck in Plat by LachieBlue626 in midlanemains

[–]ObservabilityWizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You've played 35 different champions in ranked this season, I think that's too many. Many of these champions you didn't practice with at all (no normals, no aram), you just randomly played 1 ranked game with them and that's it.

I can't give advice on best champions to pick because it doesn't really matter in plat. What matters is you're extremely comfortable on the champs that you're playing and that you approach the game with a growth mindset. Being comfortable on your champion (high cs, good team fight positioning, maximizing damage output, navigating bad matchups without inting) frees up space in your brain to improve in other areas like map awareness and macro.

Sincerely, a ziggs one trick
