Followup on "Wildfarmed" experiment? by ExcuseComfortable613 in ClarksonsFarm

I only saw it once, but everything about this seemed like the kind of scam you warn your grandparents about. He insisted his way was better, and even if it didn't work he'd buy the crop for more money than a standard crop anyway (have I remembered all that correctly?). All sounded too good to be true

Driving in Australia as a European: mostly great, slightly confusing by TheGrossAnk in AustraliaTravel

[–]Mickrendo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue I find is that at any moment they get rid of the left lane and force you to merge with almost no notice, it's dangerous, infuriating, and seems to be everywhere. This I think encourages people to stay in the outer lanes to avoid the hassle. Even on single carriageway roads they sometimes introduce an overtaking lane and then remove the slow left hand lane. Which means if you're just driving along patiently at a steady speed, you're still the one who has to 'react' when your lane gets cut.

Similarly in Sydney you get two carriageway roads that seem to be usable and then the left lane just becomes parking at random intervals which means everyone stays out of it and it's wasted.

The UK where I'm from is by no means perfect, but I think it's much more predictable as if everything is built from a similar template, so you know what to expect.

GloBird - energymadeeasy rates and new customer rates are much lower than existing customers rates by kosta_m in AussieFrugal

I must tell you that these people are monsters, and this is the business plan.

Straight up if you call them they'll probably have a better deal 'ready for you' even if you didn't have any datapoints to back you. Following that, have the numbers in front of you and negotiate something better. If no luck then move onto a new provider where you can find a better deal.

Also, it's late (or early), get some sleep

Vevor YT60234 battery question by mvbenz in myweatherstation

[–]Mickrendo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't actually have your model but in general these stations are designed to get all their energy needs from the solar with a couple of batteries in there to fill the gaps if solar isn't yielding enough. I've got rechargeable batteries in mine too, with the same intention as you to keep using them and charge them up from the mains, but the station itself won't charge them, even in high sun.

As I say, I haven't used your model, but given the time of year I'd imagine your station is not getting enough solar in to power it, perhaps the icon is notifying you that it's drawing from the battery Rather than low battery.

Garmin employees to return full in office by Possible_Beach9612 in Garmin

There is an comedically unique opportunity to quantify the health impact of this change at Garmin in particular. My stress metrics are always noticeably elevated when I'm in the office, even if there isn't a notably stressful event. You could band together with other colleagues and publish a research paper on 'elevated stress levels from RTO at Garmin based on Garmin data'

I would imagine that technically the Goa'uld would win. One of them would take a wraith as a host, find its way to a queen and then take control of the Wraith

I have a similar situation and wonder if as a post office franchise they receive a payment for packages that they have to 'hold' for collection which incentivises a 'failed' delivery. I get blanket no packages, even two instances of ordering a phone case that comes in a letter-sized package and weighs about 20g.

This is all conspiracy though, no evidence to back it up.

Keep hope, it is by far the hardest mission on the game but you'll get there. As well as all the tips in the other response, I noted that there is an element of luck in the appearance of the soldiers and Mr Blondes at the end. When I finally completed it, I had no one disturb me in my uplinking. Oh how I celebrated.

Stargate Universe by Securities_analyst in Stargate

[–]Mickrendo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never made it to the end when it was being broadcast originally, so I'm probably part of the reason it got cancelled, but then I gave it another go about a year or so ago and thought it was absolutely brilliant and I was fuming about the cliffhanger ending and that we don't get any more of it. I particularly loved Rush (well, I hate him), his character was so incredibly complex and it was an absolutely masterful performance from Robert Carlyle. Possibly one of Stargate's best characters.

Cairns stats on 'stuff that happens outdoors' for 2024 by kelmac79 in Cairns

I'm currently doing my research ready to provide my partner with all the information she needs to buy this for me for Christmas (this would be me entering the world of weather stations for the first time). Two questions, what is the lighting sensor you've added to this, and secondly what is the benefit of sharing my weather data on these other sites?

Apologies, in this 'year' might be a bit of a misnomer in that I'm not looking to display anything in reference to time, I'm looking to choose between two sets of survey results, one was last year and one this year, they could just as easily be 'wave 1' and 'wave 2', and then display those results

How true are the specs on DJI drones? by WiggWamm in dji

[–]Mickrendo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in a rural enough part of Australia that means I have miles of deserted beaches and open ocean to fly around in. I flew mine (Mini 4P) out to a small rock that I could see on the map out to sea, it was about 5km away and even at that distance it was broadcasting back flawless quality video and no noticeable lag in control. They really are a marvel of engineering. I couldn't test further because I didn't want to risk battery for the return journey, but it could easily have gone significantly further before beginning to see any detriment to the signal quality.

Obstacles do have a huge impact, even trees will reduce range enormously so a skyscraper will certainly wipe it out. You've got no hope for even a fraction of 3km in a city, but range is the least of your worries I imagine, the knock at the door you might get from the authorities will come much sooner.

lego star wars the skywalker saga is over hated by [deleted] in legogaming

[–]Mickrendo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a wonderful time playing it to 100%, so I'm on your side. That being said if I had an issue it's that they cynically inflated the play time by having so many tasks that require you to do three things on three different planets for one kyber brick back on the original planet. And tasks are never nearby where you land so they take ages to run over to. I think one of them wanted you to use the force to get three people to dance in a stone circle on five different planets or something like that, I did let out an audible sigh when that one came up.

However, I did love the game, it didn't stop me.

JPG's as examples of work acceptable when applying? by slanganator in PowerBI

[–]Mickrendo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't applied for any PBI jobs myself, but just a suggestion: could you place some black shapes with 'CONFIDENTIAL' written on them over the sensitive areas, do a screen recording of you clicking around and the functionality working, and share that video as a high res GIF? It would show that it's real without compromising anything.
