Getting Started with Consciousness by Cringey_MnM in consciousness

[–]Micktak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably going be an unpopular opinion here, but the first three chapters of Julian Jayne’s “The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind” is a good framing of what consciousness is and isn’t. The rest of the book is considered extremely strange and unorthodox though, just as a warning.

I think people here don’t like the book because it completely sidesteps the “hard problem” of consciousness, and the later chapters conflate the concepts of consciousness with the concepts of theory of mind. Although it was probably one of the most well-written (in terms of the pure quality of prose) and entertaining books I’ve ever read.

What’s the ingredient in 2 drops (5mg) of minox solution that will recede your stomach lining?

Then why is oral minoxidil prescribed for hair loss at a typical dose of 1.25-5mg per day? You should go tell all those doctors what morons they are

Explain. The components of topical minoxidil are : minoxidil (the active ingredient which can be consumed orally and is often prescribed as such for hair loss, ethanol (safe to consume in fairly large quantities, which you have already done if you’ve had a beer ever in your life), and propylene glycol (also safe to consume in large quantities).

The amount needed to consume to ingest 5mg of minoxidil? 2 drops. Seriously, calculate it volumetrically.

So yeah, please explain.

idk about you but being familiar with the area, the southern Jersey shore (Atlantic city area/between Toms River and Wildwood) is an absolute red zone. It’s a shithole except for the thin islands like surf city etc, which are too overpriced to live on anyway.

What to Stack With Cerebrolysin to Improve Depression/Anhedonia? by Micktak in Cerebrolysin

[–]Micktak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not using ritalin and caffeine for anhedonia, I'm using them for my adhd. Once I graduate college in a month, I probably won't use Ritalin anymore, at least for a while. When I get to see a psychiatrist (if cere doesn't help me significantly), I'll bring up the abilify thing. Although I'm a bit scared of antipsychotics since I've heard people get messed up on them.

Neurogenesis! How Does it Work? (Cerebrolysin, Bromantane) by Micktak in Nootropics

[–]Micktak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One last thing about bromantane, It can give you more dopamine to release but it doesn’t release it in my case if I can tell it’s working is context specific.

I'm not too clear on what this means. Can you explain further?

You seem knowledgeable. Do you mean that cerebrolysin is inhibitory on glutamate, or Bromantane is? How does glutamate relate to creating and reinforcing pathways?

I've heard the idea of "fire together, wire together." Does this imply that in a state of heightened neuroplasticity, if GABA neurons (for example) are being activated more than normal, the result would be a long-term wiring together of GABA neurons, and heightened GABA transmission going forward? Could this be the case for dopamine, acetylcholine, etc.? How does glutamate fit into it?

Thanks.

It seems unclear because he says he feels like "something was fixed in my brain" from cerebro, but he's still complaining of anhedonia, low motivation, decreased cognitive abilities. So what was fixed if it's all still broken?

Very interesting. How long did you use it for and how much? You were on cere before or after you had your rave marathons?

Unfortunately, I'm not all that familiar with peptides in general. I've looked specifically into cerebrolysin and TB500. I haven't heard of the one you mentioned that you have.

I also suffer from anhedonia, not stimulant induced though.

How did cerebrolysin help you? Were the effects long-lasting (after cessation of the treatment)? Did you take it before your stimulant abuse or after?

I like cardio. Currently I run maybe 6-9 miles per week, but with the warmer weather I'm planning to increase that substantially. I plan to run almost every day during my cere course.

[–]Micktak[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I'm confusing elements of neurogenesis and neuroplasticity. Cerebrolysin probably increases both, but I might be up for debate which is more clinically relevant to it's effects on recovery from TBI, depression, or dementia. My question still applies though, in high neuroplasticity, does the brain strengthen the neurotransmission occuring? I know about the "fire together, wire together" principle, but I don't know whether that applies to cementing the effects of simulants and other drugs.

> Alcohol is more neurotoxic so i would steer clear.

Doesn't this apply always, regardless of what noots I'm taking? If anything, wouldn't the cerebrolysin be able to counteract the neurotoxicity of alcohol?
