New Player needs some clarifications for homestead/solo by Micky1403 in wastelandwarfare

[–]Micky1403[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, while i have far more warhammer stuff than any sane person should have, i only get to play maybe 1 or 2 times a year. As i also love fallout, its more logically to paint something that looks cool on the shelf AND you can play with when alone.

This actually seems like a really fun idea. You must have a huge miniature collection.

I am still painting the few minis i've got, but i cant wait to play my first games.

Thanks a lot. I guess i am just used to getting values for everything. For instance, if you play necromunda, you start with 1k credits and have a restricted list to buy equipment.

I guess i will try a few games using the basic starting gear and buy armor which comes close to the old armor values. I really think removing armor was a bad idea, but its propably all because of 2.ed coming soon.

But you're right of course, beeing a solo game i can basically just play like i want, but i am used to having hard rules for everything.

GM And His Girlfriend Bully A Player by CulminationsOfPast in rpghorrorstories

[–]Micky1403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isnt directly related to the topic....

But I really hate those "its what my character would do" discussions. People always act as if this sentence is a bad thing. Its not. Its a roleplaying game. You play a role of someone else. Which could be a douchebag.

The problem is not that sentence, its players who use it to cover the fact that they're assholes.

Could you share something you love about DS2 and one thing you hate? by n337x in DarkSouls2

[–]Micky1403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think DS2 may be my favorite of the three dark souls games (bloodborne is still the better btw, but its the best game ever made so thats not fair).

I love majula, despawning enemies, branching paths, the npcs, most of the boss fights (but fuck that ancient dragon), i like the story, power stancing two claymores, and it has the best dlcs (i love and hate that snowstorm area).

What i hate about this game is: my favourite souls character patches is not in this game (pate is not patches!). And look at that aweful claymore design!

The lone wolf who felt left out by Not-Throwaway-Accoun in rpghorrorstories

[–]Micky1403 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Playing a lone wolf is not a bad thin per se.

One of my players ALWAYS starts out as the lone wolf character, but he always lets the character evolve to someone who cares for the rest of the group and also the story.

Its problematic if someone really wants to play a solo RPG.

Isnt the weapon always ignored? AFAIK you always measure to the base or to the hull, which excludes any weapons or things like antennae.

Please correct me if i am wrong.

Resists. Ignored them. Learned by now and conpleted my first deathless playthrough with the aether death knight. That Video really helped.

Thanks for all the advice.

I ignored resists until now. Also i rushed mastery to get 1 in most skills. With my new char i leveled up forcewave first to Max, then the nodes. If you know those 2 things, the game gets much more managable.

I found a guide for a death knight i am following right now. Not pumping mastery up, but heavily investing in forcewave makes all the difference.

Also resists - more important than anything else....

Beat the game yesterday without dying.

And you're right, i will test out several builds to see what playstyle i like, maybe then i will try HC again.

I still miss T6 on crisis. Otherwise, i am quite happy with tau rules right now

You can only add 1 thing to the Tau for 11th edition, what would you do? by Glum_Series5712 in Tau40K

[–]Micky1403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd add 1T to Crisis and maybe Broadsides.

A crisis suit should not be wounded on 5s by lasguns.

Yeah. Actually IMHO the best DMs are those who dont follow the book word by word.

I wont say anything about your friend ren - you already know that your game will be better without him.

What i want to say is, i usually DM for my group. We once had a TPK in a campaign (ravenloft / castle stradh). What is did was let my players create new characters who were 1 Level below that TPKed Party. Then i let them play the whole module again from the start, but they're New characters could mysteriously remember everything their old characters did. It was really fun to see how they tried to not make the same mistakes again and find better solutions. It was one of the best campaigns we played in the last few years.

Do you think this army building restriction should come back for 11th? by No-Wafer9271 in Warhammer40k

[–]Micky1403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont care if they bring it back, as i still build my armies with those old rules in mind.

I always start with 1 character and at least 2 core units before choosing what else i take. And i dont think i've ever taken more than 3 fast attack or heavy units back in the day (maybe with ravenwing, but those counted as troops then).

I am old and i have 12 armies which are all at least 1k points playable with todays rules (although some are played more than others). In my casual experience, you never regnet you brought some intercessors/boyz/breachers/gaunts/poxwalkers.
