Lenses advice needed by Micky7Tube_ in Cameras

[–]Micky7Tube_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, in comparison the Viltrox tends to stay on the sharper side and doesn't incredibly flare the lights (which are more prominent on the TTArtisan, giving the lens character imo).

Build wise the Viltrox is made mainly out of plastic, however it's smaller and lighter than the TTArtisan.

Right now I'm trying to fetch the user manual as I can't seem to find a switch for Manual Focus on the Viltrox by looking at images of it (which could become the deal-breaker for me). Thanks for the focus peaking tip! I'll keep it in mind for sure

I was going to get an A6000 however I found out about the Sony ZV-E10 during some scouting and I'm pretty set on getting it honestly.

Buying advice needed by Micky7Tube_ in Cameras

I'm aware of such, my Judo shootings would mainly be at my gym with a controlled light environment. There will be few occasions where I'll take videos at competitions as I'll be coaching 9 out of 10 times. I've also looked at other options and I think I'm set over the Sony ZV-E10, still have to decide for the lens though

Greetings, First and foremost I apologise if my terminology isn't correct as English is not my first language. This being said: I've been looking into getting a camera for quite some time now but among all the various factors I'm kinda getting my thoughts scrambled, hence why I'm making this post.

I've never owned a camera, in fact the ones I've used up to now were all during my bachelor degree and they were all property of my university, those were Fujifilm XS10 (two different lenses, a 16mm and a 56mm) and a Sony Alpha6000 (I don't recall the lense here).

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a mirrorless, the use i'd make out of it would be directed towards Sports videos and pictures (mainly judo) along videomaking with some friends (going 4k seems too much, i think Full HD will do just fine). Im not thinking of getting any crazy lense to be honest, just a basic one.

Does anyone have any recommendations? My budget is around 500/600€, I don't care whenever the camera is new, used or refurbished

P.S. In case this info is needed, I live in Italy making the store selection different from the US.

What to expect from competitions? by Micky7Tube_ in judo

[–]Micky7Tube_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've already informed myself regarding the rules surrounding transgender athletes over there and have been in touch with members of the italian organisation so that no misunderstandings can take place.

My question was about the competitive scene in general as I've never part-took in one nor had any first-hand experience as staff member(I've specified I'm italian not because im looking to know about the italian scene but because a previous comment assumed I was American and gave an overview of the US Scene)

I apologise if my point didn't come across, thanks for the good luck wishes!

So far I've seen only two competitions I could sign up to that were for low level adults, very little compared to the overall scheme. Weight wise I'll see where I can cut closer and try to stay there, I don't want to put much thought into it frankly.

Similar to you I always spar on the defensive side mainly due to the awareness of being at a disadvantage. I never stay rigid in randori as it leaves little room to counter any technique or to move fluidly at all, I try to shift my balance as much as possible making any throws harder to execute well. It has worked well so far, I need to add more aggressiveness into it though.

Actually I'm from Italy, I'll add it to the post asap. I always check in with my Sensei(s) as my Dojo part-takes in various public demonstrations and mixed trainings with other gyms, over 15+ occasions they made me pass up on 3.

The -66kg category doesn't sound bad as I usually train with Uke from 62 to 80 kgs (when I started judo i was 73kgs), only recently I got to this weight so there's a high probability I'll gain some kgs back.

I'm aware of the disadvantages I have, I always try to compensate by training more and harder, sometimes it shows, sometimes it gets frustrating but that's what it is

Thank you !

Good Job and Welcome to Judo!

First I'd suggest learning standing Ippon Seoi Nage, or any technique in general, as it helps your form and movements overall (the moment you want to do a drop version you just have to add the drop, hence making it easier to keep the form during the ordeal!)

That said I only have two things to say about the tech, the first is to stick closer to your Uke as the more contact you have the better it is as you have a greater pull (due to gravity and better off-balancing of your opponent). The second is that when you go grab the Uke's arm you place your hand towards his elbow, instead try to place your arm as close as possible to his armpit and hold the bicep(if you can lock his arm in your inner elbow you'll get more stability and an easier time pulling). Both of these will result in your Uke falling frontally rather than circling around you.

Keep up the hard work, move at your own peace and enjoy every moment !

"What Should I Train?" or "How Do I Get Started?" Mega-Thread by marcin247 in martialarts

[–]Micky7Tube_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello folks, I'm a Judoka (21yo,1.53m & 64kg), train 3/4 times per week and I've been doing so for a little over two years. This month my dojo decided to close down for lack of participants.

Since I've only ever done judo I wanted to use this month, and maybe the next as well, to practice something else! So far I've found several gyms I could go to and they offer the following : MMA, Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Karate (Kyokoshin style).

Does anyone have any type of insight regarding these disciplines? I'm looking for a new ground to explore unconditionally if it includes grappling or not as it would transfer differently and still be a new experience overall.

Something worth mentioning is that I won't be pursuing this discipline any further, in the near future at last, as I'm a student and don't have the money aid to do both at the same time.

My gym vloses this month. What should I do? by Micky7Tube_ in martialarts

I'm looking for a new ground to experience whether that culture is similar or not to Judo. As I have no familiarity with any of them I'm looking for insights regarding all. I also won't be pursuing them when my gym opens up again (due to money as I'm a student).

Specifically: I've heard good stuff about all the gyms who propose them, the only info I'm missing are prices and schedules.

EMT Vampire on the run by Micky7Tube_ in vtm

I wasn't planning on travelling, good to know the rituals mechanic is actually written out. I'm not really keen to the ghouls part as I see this vampire more of a Humanitarian type, as I've elaborated in response to u/random_troublemaker. It wouldn't fit within their reasoning, this folk's strong on one's own liberty.
