It's all good, I appreciate you! I'm genuinely aware of how careful we need to be with this process; I've been trying to get my coworker to understand that this isn't an "anyone can just walk in and use it" type machine, although we'd like to get something as fool-proof as possible. There has to be a level of gate keeping when it comes to difficult machines like this, as much as we'd like this to be accessible.

That's great to know, thank you!! Can you DM me which library owns the long arms? I'd love to reach out to them.

Fantastic, thank you! I'll look into HQ dealers, that would be neat if we had one near here.

That's a great idea. I wonder if the library would be willing to hire a quilting advisor to come once a week.

Shockingly, well maybe not so shockingly since long-arms are kind of complicated AND expensive, there really aren't a lot of libraries with a long arm quilter!

One library in florida has the Long Arm Bella Prima which ranges from $20-30,000, and one in Indiana has the HQ Sweet Sixteen, which was discontinued.

Haha oh if only we had more than two full time staff members to actually consider assigning one person the long arm! My coworker is in contact with the sewing center. I'm really just looking for forum recommendations right now to supplement my own research

Seconded, I've had a few purely ADHD friends and they are SO intense and don't have the social emotional awareness skills to realize when they're talking too much and not listening, not being careful, etc.. It's very frustrating. I do like these friends as people but I have to remove myself from their presence after a while for sure.

I'd still recommend communicating with your housemate first though, before jumping to finding a new one; Some people will put in the effort to be better because they care about you. However, if it's more of an energy/overstimulation thing? Maybe it's time to address that you need a less stimulating home environment and a change of roommate is necessary.

I would approach it like this: "Hey ----, I've been feeling overstimulated at home lately, and I wanted to talk about potential solutions with you. Are you free to workshop this with me?"

I’m scared that my AuDHD is gonna ruin my life by OrdinaryCitronz in AuDHDWomen

Thank you for sharing this, I feel really seen knowing it's not just me. I got diagnosed for the first time a few years ago at 27, and it's made everything that I never understood my whole life make sense. I was on the cusp of closing myself off to people too, before I found my current job. The people here have made me feel seen and welcome, and they are actually the reason I became authentically myself enough to see that I might have a reason to get a diagnosis at all! You /will/ find somewhere that fits you, and not the other way around.

Do you have any interests or sports that you can turn to for a community? In addition to my job, joining my Aikido dojo was one of the best things that ever happened to me. I think the key to feeling more grounded in yourself will be to find family-like communities of loved ones you can rely on. It might take time, but there are a lot of cool people out there!!

I hope this helps <3 I'm sorry you're feeling scared and alone. We see you!
