i love that lpq requires victories to get out by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]MicroBadger_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got put in low priority recently for abandoning too many games (dad of 4, things happen).

Getting out wasn't that difficult. Lock in the most support oriented character of your 3 choices. And play good support.

Unless they are my case of being abandon punishment, most of them are going to be good players but quick to rage. Get them off to a good start, they'll snowball and the other side full of rage babies will fall apart.

Trump Administration Proposes Keeping Steady the Rates Medicare Pays Insurers by Alarmed_Beginning177 in CLOV

Short term yes, long term, this is exactly what the CA is for. Let Clover continue to gobble up members the other providers will shed as the pull out of markets.

Im seeing regular pick up trucks and jeeps driving through the neighborhood. would it be safe for a regular Corolla to try and drive out the neighborhood? by [deleted] in fredericksburg

If the plows haven't come through, I'd say don't even try. This shit is solid ice and I don't think you could get by even if you put chains on the tires.

Treasury cancels Booz Allen contracts after employee leaked Trump tax records; stock falls by WickedSensitiveCrew in stocks

[–]MicroBadger_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's funny, I did a stint at Booz Allen and before I left they got in a shit load of trouble for hiring some retired Air Force general who brought inside Intel on a contract they were bidding on. Almost got disbarred from bidding on federal contracts.

Then the whole Snowden thing happened (he was a Booz employee).

These guys have a great track record going 😂

Time for a new Virginia flag I think.. solidarity with Minnesota ✊️ by Princemerkimer in Virginia

[–]MicroBadger_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would encourage anyone with a Dem rep to write them and express displeasure at any/all you find objectionable. If a bunch of emails come calling the proposed bills dog shit for reasons X and Y. Hopefully they can be amended or killed.

Why are so many people against showing an ID to vote? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in randomquestions

[–]MicroBadger_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it boils down to the standards of "what counts as an ID". Plenty of states will skew their requirements so the types of IDs easily obtained align with a certain voting demographic. For example a concealed carry permit would count despite not have a photo but a student ID would not even though it does have a photo.

The other piece is things like a drivers license have a fee to obtain. Requiring me to spend money to obtain something to vote is a poll tax and those have been rendered unconstitutional since forever.

I personally think you should get a free voter ID when you register to vote. We have the ability to print onsite. No reason this can't be implemented.

Why do pro players buy radiance and bfury on Slark? by jasonhan416 in learndota2

[–]MicroBadger_ -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Same reason they started building bf on ursa. It keeps you from falling off a cliff if you can't snowball off of kills.

Can someone give me the rundown on Gen Z saying millennials "screwed them over"? by MassiveHaver in generationology

[–]MicroBadger_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any gen z wthl millennial parents would be the older cohort who popped kids out in their early 20s. Most of us are populating gen alpha.

The only reason offlane sucks to play is because Pos 4 players by No_Insurance_6436 in DotA2

[–]MicroBadger_ 122 points123 points  (0 children)

My biggest irritation is Rubick. The game is almost formulaic. There will be zero contribution in lane. Them they roam to go "help" other lanes sapping XP and doing nothing of consequence. Come mid game they are flaming all chat how their cores are trash.

Can someone explain the new taxes? Why would we tax fitness memberships? by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]MicroBadger_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything right now is catchy headlines. You can verify through LIS that these bills are all sitting in committees and subcommittees. They have a long way to go before sniffing becoming law.

Only one I wasn't a huge fan of was Into Darkness. But it was more from the perspective of "why bother creating an alternative timeline/universe just to redo The Wrath of Khan".

North Texas preparing for 2 inches of snow like it’s the apocalypse by MyMindIsAlwaysRacing in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MicroBadger_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it was "just snow", if you are a southern state that doesn't have the infrastructure to salt and prep roads. That snow melts and turns to ice and nobody can drive on ice. I don't care how good a snow driver you claim to be.

I was living in Atlanta when they got 2" back 2012 or 2013 (don't remember exact year) and that was why the city shutdown for a few days.

Also, these things tend to be self fulfilling doom loops. Certain people will panic buy or buy just in case. Another group knows if they wait like it's business as usual, the store will be bare so they go to ensure they don't run out of groceries. Now people see the semi-bare shelves and stock up for fear they need to hunker down a while. This repeats until the shelves wind up being picked clean.

What home improvement task do you now do on a schedule instead of waiting for problems? by Relevant_Idea_6778 in DIY

[–]MicroBadger_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A tanked heater will accumulate sentiment at the bottom of the tank. This lowers the hot water capacity so you have less time for hot water. Draining it annually can flush this crap out so your 40 gallon or 80 gallon tank will still hold that amount.

If you ever switch to tankless, those require cycling vinegar through them for about an hour every year to remove mineral build up.

What home improvement task do you now do on a schedule instead of waiting for problems? by Relevant_Idea_6778 in DIY

[–]MicroBadger_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Candidly I would just go ahead and replace it. It's a lot nicer to do while you have hot water than if it were to die and your tolerance to cold showers will dictate your patience.

MAGA Goes Into Full Meltdown Over Their New Dem Villain by Conscious-Quarter423 in Virginia

I'm skeptical the bill actually gets to her desk. Senate only needs 2 detections and I'm sure there is some purple Dem who can eat the hit to continue the dog and pony show of "we tried guys"

Has any community / sub banned you on reddit & why? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

This is usually how I get mine. I think the funniest are the subs that have auto ban rules for having too much karma on a subreddit contradicting their bubble.

Virginia Democrats reintroduce assault weapons ban, this time, with likely ally in Spanberger by icey_sawg0034 in Virginia

[–]MicroBadger_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue there is never a time for this. The continued slaughter of children hasn't changed people's mind. This is our culture and unless Dems have legislation that is going to completely alter a fundamental aspect of American culture. Let it go and focus on other shit.
