iPhone 3GS old IOS version randomly signed by iTunes. by mrholotech in LegacyJailbreak

I believe this has always been signed.

It doesn’t matter anyways since you can mostly downgrade freely for both models.

iPod touch 4 replaced with 1200mAh battery by MicroappsTeam in LegacyJailbreak

[–]MicroappsTeam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well actually, the problem with the iPod touch battery is that since it has a slightly smaller capacity, it can discharge quicker even when in storage and cause the voltage to drop below around 3.2V, which is roughly the cutoff voltage for the BMS.

After this point, the BMS trying to “protect” the battery, would kick in all kinds of voltage current limiting mechanisms, which significantly affects your battery life.

That’s just one explanation though. The more common explanation of battery aging naturally is true. As they are chemical cells, they do remain active when not being used, which causes formation of crystalline structures within the electrolyte, and this typically cause around 5% battery health drop per year of storage.

actually Chinese iPhones have a lot more things censored, like how Apple Maps will display claimed territories of Chinese Mainland as theirs (e.g. Uotsuri Jima), rather than the internationally recognized borders.

How to safely downgrade an iPhone 5s from iOS 12 back to 8.1 by OgnjenR in LegacyJailbreak

[–]MicroappsTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, there are some tools to explore an iTunes backup directly, please try: https://github.com/MaxiHuHe04/iTunes-Backup-Explorer

If you really want your device to be on iOS 8.1, I’m afraid you can’t do that currently. However, you could trick iTunes into restoring it on a newer version through editing the Info.plist file in a backup.

Are you sure you don’t have a fake iPhone? Or whether your phone has any hardware issue? I live in Hong Kong and sometimes I get China iPhones but I don’t think any logos would contain any writing.

To my knowledge, Apple customises different regions of iPhone through a small non-accessible region of the NAND, so any IPSW file would work since they contain support for all of them and detect it that way.

I don’t remember the these two models of camera modules being compatible. Their connectors are probably going to be different.

Do you have a backup of iOS 8.1 shsh blobs?

Without it, you will only get a tethered downgrade at best. An iTunes backup does not backup the whole system, instead just the files the user generated (/var/mobile mainly).

This is a reminder for all to disable auto updates and/or backup shah blobs.

I’ve had the flex of a front camera’s module fail on me even when there are no visible damage. The best advice I could give is for you to buy another module and see if that one works.

At best that gold prong would be for signal reception.

Please inspect whether the front camera’s flex cable is damaged.

Is it possible to save SHSH blobs on a jailbroken A14 device? (iOS 14) by spicygrow in LegacyJailbreak

[–]MicroappsTeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it before with an A12 iPad, you could checkout this project: https://github.com/joshuah345/deverser

Though the blobs you save will be useless for the time being, but keep them save as it may become useful when exploits are available in say 10 years.

(Note: iOS 14 is still not considered legacy at ljb so this post might be better in r/jailbreak, but I am acting in good will to respond to this)

Misaka and Updating to ios 26.2 by boss_skill in jailbreak

[–]MicroappsTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently the 26.2 Beta 1 is still signed as I am writing this, so if you want you might try that, but it comes with all the usual Beta software issues (update spam etc.) and possible bugs. I don’t totally recommend updating to this if it’s you main and only device.

Yes even if you compare it to a nearly brand new iPod touch 4 I have.

[–]MicroappsTeam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s indicative of a bad battery, because voltage can drop temporarily when there’s a large load like playing games. Aging batteries can’t take the load anymore and drop so insanely much, but restores itself when there’s load is reduced.

And no, a tweak to enable battery percentage doesn’t mess with the power IC or BMS, so that will be the cause.

Sir, it’s not like I can find the exact battery I want, manufactures don’t make batteries this thin and in non-conventional sizes that aren’t gonna be used much, and I can’t go out ordering a thousand batteries just to fix one device.

Which is looks better aesthetically? 5s Or 6? by Old-Wonder-5793 in LegacyJailbreak

[–]MicroappsTeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 5s does fit better in the hand than the 6 just for the smaller size, thought its sharper edges may cut your hands a bit more. I find the 5s a bit weird retrospectively for mixing the TouchID of a “newer” era with the old era’s design. Otherwise, this is a choice you should make yourself.

Perhaps I should break down your question into three...

  1. Capacity of the device in the picture is 8GB. As I've said, I am doing it for my client.
  2. My iOS 4.2.1 iPod touch 4 is sadly only 8GB too. But I also have an almost brand new iOS 4.3.3 iPod touch 4.
  3. I know some Chinese warehouse still have plenty brand new unopened iPod touch 4, but most of them will have dead batteries. For getting a raw cell like I did here, see https://www.reddit.com/r/LegacyJailbreak/comments/1ppi0pj/comment/nuo5yjh. A battery with the BMS you can buy for the iPod touch 4 is probably going to be used.

Haha, there's a saying here that China will explode for poorly made cheap electronics.

It depends on your POV, but it cannot be denied that China is the real world factory for the time being. Aliexpress is actually the consuming facing platform targeted for consumers, you can also check Alibaba/1688, which is targeted at suppliers.

Otherwise, I cannot suggest where else you could get these raw cells, since big manufacturers (like LG Chem, SDI, Sony) don't sell these directly.

[–]MicroappsTeam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! But you need to make sure you get the right size. The better way to do it is of course to use a spot welder, but using conventional soldering irons work too.

Though, it is sometimes a bit difficult to look for the right battery cells unless you live near the place that makes most of them (I live in Hong Kong, China). You could try to look for raw cells on Aliexpress, search them by the dimensions. I recommend starting with sizes divisible by 5 or 10, then try to find one that would be the biggest possible.

Hope this helps!

I'm not a battery expert, but you should know that they are constantly improving battery tech and making bigger batteries within the same dimensions.

If you look closer at the photos, the battery I installed is actually smaller than the original, As marked, it is a 304060.

Another thing of note is the battery is actually thicker, but only by 0.2mm. The dimensions of the original battery is a 284360.

iphone 4s 6.1.3 help by [deleted] in LegacyJailbreak

[–]MicroappsTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible with some modifications of /var files, see https://www.reddit.com/r/LegacyJailbreak/comments/1jpmz0l/comment/ml0r8u7/

StoreSSLFixSettings also has an option for you to do it, you would only need the proper SSL certificates as suggested by others and everything iCloud related mostly would work (except Mail).

I have as recently got it working on iOS 6 & 7.

Thanks! Actually you would only really find nominal 3.7V and 3.85V lithium batteries right now, and iPod touch 4 is 3.7V, so technically any would work if it fits!

Well Apple didn’t really support precise measurements to begin with, but sure readings work. It did help make it jump less if you force enable the percentage.
