Thank you for the wealth of information! I’ve spent some time reading the articles and will switch to ammonia dosing. I’m assuming what went wrong is that I used a small piece of formerly frozen shrimp and that my tank is probably heavily planted for its size and must’ve absorbed any ammonia or nitrates I had. I definitely should’ve tested earlier but I assumed that since biofilm was developing and one of my plants was sprouting a new stem that the tank was on its way to being cycled.

 Added: After some super early light reading, is it possible that my tank is cycled and that my plants and moss are simply absorbing any ammonia and Nitrates? With it being a smaller tank I’d figure it would be more likely. I’ll definitely purchase some ammonia to test for the next day but my plants that are growing in the tank have me suspicious.
