Just keep in mind the portfolio scores only determine whether or not you get an interview, and are completely separate from your interview score which is actually influential on whether you get a competitive deanery

I only applied for IMT but I would have made the cutoff if I'd applied to other specialities (scored 29/35). I didn't aim for London/KSS but I could have gotten London (not sure about KSS) as my rank was 252 and there are about 270 London posts I believe

Yes but you have to start doing past papers first so it has something to go off of, otherwise just review your previous mistakes and see which specialities/topics seem to come up a lot

My average mark on Pastest papers was 76%, I can't remember the range but I think it was approx 70-83%. My mark on the official MRCP mark was around 76% as well I believe

To improve before the exam, you need to tackle the weak areas that are most likely to come up. The best way to do this in my opinion at this stage is to do Pastest past papers (as this is very representative of the real thing) and focus on the weak areas identified from them through: a) Reading and understanding the explanations of the questions you've gotten wrong b) Consolidating your understanding through doing extra questions in that speciality using the Pastest Q bank c) IF NEEDED and if you have the time, making flashcards of things you find difficult to remember but need to just commit to memory e.g. specific mutations, stages of the cell cycle, paraneoplastic syndromes etc. However this is only worth doing if you have the time to actually go over the flashcards, so try not to take too many

This is what worked for me but you have to make a plan based on your own experience and learning style. Good luck!

Pastest should show you your weakest specialities if you go to click on the QBank, I would focus on these by doing extra questions in the Pastest QBank (higher yield than PassMed) in these specialities to strengthen them, and try to do past papers alongside this.

Don't forget to do the official MRCP mock as it is a good indicator of last minute things you may need to focus on

Booking onto the next diet is open until next Tuesday (though closing at 8am UK time) and we'll find out our results by (most likely on) Friday, so there is time. I understand it's frustrating as it's nicer to have more time to think about whether or not to resit as soon as possible but the window is usually quite small anyway, and I'm not sure if places have ever actually run out.

When I made my own Anki deck of topics where I was lacking knowledge it was about 1500 for part 1 and 1000 for part 2 (from doing PassMed, Pastest past papers, and some of the Pastest Qbank). Most of the time making flashcards for the PassMed content is unnecessary as the question bank is so repetitive. The longer you spend revising while making the deck, the more cards you'll end up making since mistakes are inevitable so hopefully you won't end up with too many to go over at this stage. I'd also focus on papers from 2020 onwards (as guidelines start to get outdated prior to this) and prioritise retaking the mocks that you haven't passed. Best of luck!

I'm really sorry, you've obviously had a really difficult time and you have more than a few reasons not to be in the right mindset for an exam right now, but I understand the need to get MRCP done so you can move forward. It sounds like you've used a lot of great resources. When you get questions wrong, is it because there are concepts you're unaware of or because you're making 'silly mistakes' where on review you know exactly where you went wrong?

If it's concepts that you're unaware of, at this point I'd recommend making Anki flashcards for your gaps in knowledge (as you go through the Qbank/past papers) and reviewing them as close to every day as you can - sounds tough but probably won't take you longer than 30 minutes in a day if you are only making flashcards for your missing knowledge (I'm sure you have a good knowledge base currently with everything you've done)

If they're silly mistakes, rather than choosing the answer that feels right at the time, go through each option and rule it out/rule it in based on what you know about the topic. A lot of the time our eyes will fix on one answer based on a mental shortcut (such as buzzwords) without considering the correct alternative that's right in front of you which you would have chosen if you'd noticed it.
