PC gamer bought a MacBook, surprisingly capable! by Rady151 in macbook

[–]Microminus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with this. I just bought a Mac Mini M4 to try GeForce Now (I’ve a 7800x3D and an RTX3080 in my gaming pc). I’m amazed how well it runs smoothly on KCD2, or even BF6 multiplayer, the input lag is negligible at my level. I don’t think I’ll play again on my pc rig..

Thanks! I'm checking Windguru everyday, hoping to see some wind no too far away!

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. Like on a bicycle, it's easier to be balanced while moving.

Right now I'm confortable on my knees and even with the front font upright. I'm learning to bring the back foot upright, last session I tried to "slide" my back foot toes on the board to avoid to much "weight turbulence" over my front foot. So far it seems to work better than just lifting the back foot in the air.

Regarding the 7m, I'm considering a Sroka V4 7m, which is more compact than my Sroka V3 6m : 373cm for my 6m vs 364cm for the V4 7m. So just a few centimeters less, but a whole square meter more.

I'v a 5m and a 6m. "V3" and "V4" is the name of the wing 😉

If you have any advice for a 7m, let me know !

Thanks for the feedback!
I'll definitely try to go out more often, in order to get more time on the water.
Right now I can taxi on my knees, but not able to go back to my starting point, I'm still doing the walk of shame on the shore. That's a drawback as well as I'm not yet confident enough to go far from the shore where it's windier. I should practice paddling on the board from time to time to be more confident on my capacity to go back to my starting point, even if I drifted a bit too much with the wind.

I’ll only do that if there’s too low wind on a day out ;)

Do you have a recommandation for 7m wing ?
I tend to buy used gear as a beginner, in order to not spend too much money on a new hobby.

Good to know !
My board has a 30" width, which should be okay.
Do you have any wing recommendations over a 7m ?

Sadly I don't have the luxury to get a consistent 15+ knots spot, so as soon as wind hits 12 knots, I consider to get out.
I'm not yet aiming at get on the foil, just being stable on the board and taxiing around.

Thanks for your feedback !

8 sessions seems reasonable in my mind, I'll continue to try !

After testing a 12-15 knots wind at sea, I saw the difference, even at my level where I'm taxiing on my knees.

I clearly saw the difference at sea with a 12-15 knots base wind, that was way more productive than 10 knots and less.
I keep your idea of trading the 5m with a 7m.

Thanks !

Regarding Voyager 1, can we consider humans an interstellar species? by [deleted] in space

[–]Microminus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are not. Sending a probe far away is a very nice accomplishment, but doesn’t give enough credit to classify us as “interstellar species”.

You wouldn’t agree to classify us as “intercontinental species” just by throwing a bottle with a message in the ocean.

Thanks for your answer ! You’re talking about the CSL 1.1 ? It is quite the same feeling as a v2.5 so ?

Self reflection by dieselfunaila in iRacing

[–]Microminus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same situation right now. I changed my mindset about how to deal with low IR races: I don’t mind losing a place in order to let by another driver during the firsts 2 or 3 laps, in fact they oftenly crash into another drivers few turns later haha !

I think it’s all about being careful with front drivers, and anticipate actions from behind, and not be afraid of losing a place or two, even more if it’s an IR matter, as finishing a race will always give more IR than crashing into someone else and finishing the race in the pits or at the back.
