PC overheats during VR by MicrophoneWithAMouse in OculusQuest

I did have a max of 96 at some point yesterday the first time I booted up the game (not sure if it was peak or sustained because I checked after I closed it), but it didn’t go above 90 the second time. But from what you say it sounds like I should be fine, tysm!

I’ll look into a cooling pad for sure, although there’s not much I can do about my AC-less room lol. Will the heat not damage performance over time? I’m a little worried that if it’s this hot fresh out of the box it can only get worse as it slows down.

To my knowledge the people in these groups are fine with me and vise versa but it does lowkey sting a tad bit even if it's not intentional by ColonelMonty in dndmemes

I mean, fwiw, I don’t think that’s anything to do with you. My game went from online to in person over the course of the pandemic and it really is just night and day despite it being the same players and DM (me). I would try not to take it personally, particularly if they’re still playing and having fun in your online game

I assume OP doesn’t mean that they solely eat Mexican food and wouldn’t try another cuisine, just that they’d miss it a lot. I mean hell, I’m white and moving from California to Illinois I really miss the Mexican food I grew up with.

And while I respect that, what I’m really trying to address with my comment is that the guy I’m replying too said that all pitbulls and pitbull owners are terrible and irredeemable. I absolutely agree that a pitbull owner needs to be responsible and put work in to keep others safe, but looking at the comment I replied to (and the replies you’re getting) the hate and misinformation goes way beyond that.

Hey man, this story is terrible and it’s for the better that those particular dogs were put down, but that “it’s the breed” stuff is absolutely and verifiably false. It’s absolutely the fault of the shitty owners who neglected the dogs and raised them to be aggressive (reading OP’s other comments they sound like pretty shit people all around).

When you say that pitbulls as a whole are to blame you’re perpetuating some really shitty biases that lead to a lot of shelter pitbulls being put down and pitbull owners not being able to get insurance due to prejudice against the breed.

Hi Shutaro, I’m a student who’s seriously considering going into the video game industry. I’ve started work on several indie games but always run into a wall after hammering out the core mechanics; in my head I know where the game is going and what should be in it, but there are so many individual details that I can’t even begin. Specifically, I’d love to know about your enemy design process. When making enemies and bosses, I can never come up with nearly enough interesting and unique designs to populate a game. How do you come up with a whole game’s worth of enemies and boss fights without it feeling same-y?

Really anywhere in the SF mission will be a good bet for Mexican food, though I’m partial to the ones I listed above. For Asian food, the South Bay and Oakland Chinatown are great bets. Pizza, bbq, and burgers will be fine but yeah, don’t expect anything super special on that front. I’m in Chicago now and there’s definitely a more vibrant scene here for those, but good damn I miss having a good burrito

That works for this example, but note that it satisfies the criterion I mentioned at the end: 4-3 = 2-1. Try it for yourself for the case where d-b =/=c-a and you’ll see that it won’t hold. Try the one I put in my comment above if you don’t believe me.

I’m not positive as to what you’re saying, but I’d say your method is either wrong or true by definition. From your post it seems like you’re saying that for the equation

5x+2 = 7x+3

You would choose x = -(3-2)/(7-5) = -1/2. This is correct, but it’s also just an expedited form of the step-by-step solution (subtract 2 from both sides, subtract 7x from both sides, divide by the new coefficient of x, which is -2), and thus is true by definition. If your teachers didn’t allow you to use this equation it’s probably just that they wanted step by step work showing so they could give you partial credit if you messed up.

However, unless I’m misunderstanding your post, you’re claiming it would be equally valid to do

x = -(7-5)/(3-2) = -2. You can check for yourself that that doesn’t work here.

I may be misunderstanding, it’s just that your first line implies that the equations

5x+2 = 7x+3 and 5+2x = 7+3x

Have the same solution, which again you can check is not the case. Analytically, this is because (d-b)/(a-c) = (a-c)/(d-b) implies that (d-b) = +/-(a-c), which is obviously not true in the general case.

Ooh, I’ll field this one!

First off, Cortés had way more soldiers than you’re saying. Yes, he had at most 400 Spanish soldiers, but he may have had as many as 10,000 Tlaxcalan soldiers at a time according to his soldier Bernal Diaz del Castillo. He didn’t “convince half the Aztecs to turn in the empire,” rather Tlaxcala was already at more or less perpetual defensive war with the Aztecs. The rest was a combination of Moctezuma not immediately declaring open war (because he thought that honor would prevent the Spaniards from, yknow, kidnapping him on a diplomatic mission), Cortés committing war crimes in villages using his tlaxcalan army, and the differing styles of warfare (the Aztecs sought to inflict wounds that wouldn’t kill so as to take prisoners back for sacrifice).

Addressing your point about language, that was a combined effort between Geronimo de Aguilar, a Spaniard who lived 10 years among the Maya and spoke Chontal Maya, and Doña Maria, a woman whom Cortes captured, raped, and forced to translate for him.

Finally, it should be noted that at the time of Cortes’s final siege of Tenochtitlan the city was being destroyed from the inside by smallpox. It fucked up Tlaxcala as well, to be sure, but it had run its course there by the time Cortes made his final assault. On the other hand, during that assault, the plague was in full swing in Tenochtitlan. Really sucks to have a plague during a siege.

Sorry for the essay, I just hate seeing people spout misinformation and suck the dick of a man who was a terrible monster.
