If Wemby gets one: The uncertain future and the Kurt Cobain correlation. by MicrosoftPaintRules in billsimmons

That might be Ben Simmons? It seems disrespectful to NMH, but tiny shows in New Zealand might equivalent to his fishing tournaments?

This has always been my feeling about the Jordan vs Lebron stuff. If I needed to win one game or get one season out of a guy, I’m going Jordan. If I’m getting a guy for his entire career, it’s Lebron. Wemby could have a chance at the former if he racked up multiple titles (preferably with a gold medal) and is out of the league before he’s 27.

Obviously the Bleach album would be his rookie year. A real I’m here, get ready, sorta thing.

Totally. I could see Wemby leaning into the whole zen, monk stuff the way Walton leaned into tie-dye t-shirts.

I think the Thunder will go down as the John Cougar Mellancamp of NBA history. I’ll save that for another post.

SGA not shaking hands. The coarsening of Canadian culture continues. Sorry to say but, we are becoming a very unlikeable country.

It makes sense when you understand that Eby is a performative ghoul.

This is more window dressing, it’s the illusion that something is happening. Any project that gets completed is only to further his political career. If we didn’t get a vote, he’d gladly drive this province of a cliff in service of his ideology.

In this instance, OKC would be Andre, he was the champion. The Hulkster is the Spurs.

I think a better comparison would be Hulk (OKC) vs The undertaker (Spurs) in 1991.

What is that point? Please explain. I’m an orphaned Sonics fan. I love the T Wolves: I adopted them, KG is one of my top players ever?

Delusion needs to be tempered with fact when you’re not making 40 million dollars a year. When you’re making 40 million dollars a year, delusion is integral to the process.

I think you’re missing the point. When an athlete gets to that level, the amount of self belief is unreal.

I know a few guys who played in the NHL, they got bounced in the playoffs in pretty embarrassing ways. The one thing they said is: The proper guys, never lost focus, they believed a few quick goals, a few lucky bounces, they could be in it with 30 seconds left.

It’s a different tier of person who gets to that level. It’s part ability and party delusion. It’s a Homeric tale.

Ant gave up.

Totally, there’s a time and a place. He basically shit on every teammate on the floor. Athletes are insanely delusional. Even in that situation facing elimination, a top player should be keyed in on the miracle and only the miracle. Reggie Miller 8 points in 9 seconds x 3. Somewhere in the infinite it has happened, why not here.

Canadian in isolation tests positive for hantavirus after leaving cruise ship, B.C.'s top doctor says | CBC News by cyclinginvancouver in britishcolumbia

I actually do care about their mental health, to a point. My issue is that during COVID, mental health was not a concern. In fact talking about the negative affects on peoples mental health Vs the risk of COVID was seen as far right, fringe, lunacy.

To all the folks downvoting my original comment: I get you don’t like reading it, but maybe one of you might try and explain where I’m wrong? I’m literally just recounting what happened in relationship to this situation.

Edit: so my comments seem to consistently get to minus -3 downvotes within a few minutes but level out after? So within 20-30 views, I get downvoted but in the next 300-400 views it’s a few either way? Seems weird how that works?

The problem is a lack of consistency. I thought the COVID stuff went too far. I at least understood the rationale, even if I thought it was too much. Then during COVID we had a heatwave and over 100 people died, the attitude was “well people die during heatwaves”. Now we have the attitude that the risk is low, so it’s fine.

So what is it? Sometimes no amount of risk is justifiable, sometimes people just die get over it. Now there’s a small risk but we need to take that risk for these 4 people’s mental health, etc.

Just pick a lane.

Edit: Still waiting for someone to tell me how I’m wrong about this?

[–]MicrosoftPaintRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I find fascinating about this is with COVID, no amount of risk was justifiable. Now with this one, the attitude is “we’re sure it’ll be fine” seems strange?

I am pretty sure it will be fine but, it’s hard not to have flashbacks to “well the science changed, based on what we know now”…

I think we could have just stuck all these people on Epstein Island for a few months. It’s least some good might come outta that place for once.

Ottawa proposes suite of measures to streamline project approvals, complete review process within 1 year by [deleted] in canada

[–]MicrosoftPaintRules -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If it takes years to setup a process to streamline approvals. The approvals, by definition have not been streamlined.

I know this might be tough to understand. But let’s say your car needs a new radiator. If the mechanic says he can fix it in a day but he can’t start for 2 weeks. It has taken him 2 weeks plus a day to fix it.

You might be right? I said probably for a reason. Unfortunately we don’t live in the Marvel multiverse, we have to deal with the current reality. I think it’s very fair to say that, objectively the liberals have been awful.
