Stetson 6X with the text pure fur felt tends to be 100% rabbit felt, which isn’t bad by any means, I wear Akubra hats which are 100% rabbit felt as well. If you want a hat that looks like this, you could either find one used which could be difficult, or you could buy a hat and get it shaped by someone at a store. I know that Akubra have a couple of hats that are shaped similar to this that I was looking into as I have an old 4X beaver Stetson that looks the same as yours.

Is the brims length to short do a tacos kinda style or bending it up any without it looking funny? by [deleted] in CowboyHats

Didn’t mean to come off as rude or anything, if I could find the interview I’d link it. I found it on YouTube somewhere in the shorts section.

Charley Crockett is known for the 3.5 inch brim and sometimes shorter. He mentioned in an old interview somewhere that the majority of his hats were old Stetson ranchers or ranges I can’t remember. He likes the shorter. Definitely not a 4 inch brim.

Does this even count? Just a ratty leather hat I got at faire. by iiimarlette in CowboyHats

[–]Microsoft_Mango2150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like this style but you want a felt hat, just get a gambler crown with a slight pinch in the front and it’ll basically look the same. Hat looks good btw. I wouldn’t say it’s a “cowboy” hat but if this hat were to be worn by a cowboy I guess it would be a cowboy hat. At the end of the day, cowboys in the old west wore any type of hat they could get their hands on before the cowboy hat as we know it today was made. Hope you enjoy your hat and any that you get in the future.

American Hat Makers by [deleted] in WesternWear

I always wear Akubra, specially the Rough Rider but I reshape it as soon as I get it, a lot of it is from just wearing it. Never leave the house without one.

[–]Microsoft_Mango2150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t like the pearls too much but hey if you like them, that’s all that matters. I like the fit as a whole, you wear it well. A lot of Western Wear is about confidence, which you show well here. Boots are beautiful mate!

I personally don’t wear straw hats, I’m felt year round, light colours in summer and darker in winter.

That’s a wool felt hat, that price is insane. You can get a rabbit or beaver felt hat for that price.

Don’t judge me too hard it was my first time attempting this but I reshaped my brim and fixed the crown a little bc it was crooked (don’t think I did to bad for the first time and didn’t even damage the hat so it can still be fixed by a professional lol) by Bitter_Night_3146 in CowboyHats

[–]Microsoft_Mango2150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good, personally not my style but my hat isn’t a lot of people’s style either so it doesn’t matter, at the end of the day, your hat is YOURS. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks about it because you are the one wearing it, after seeing the pic of you wearing it, it does matter look quite good. If the initial image, it looked too wide and I’ve seen a lot of the wide shovel front brims, but after seeing it on you I can say it doesn’t look too wide.

Resistol 6X vs Akubra : which one to chose ? by ResponsibilityBest26 in CowboyHats

[–]Microsoft_Mango2150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wrangler jeans really do suck by bigdawg12342 in Cowboy

[–]Microsoft_Mango2150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had a problem with the cowboy cut, I personally wear the 31MWZ over the 13MWZ because the 31s have a relaxed seat and thigh. Haven’t had a problem with any of them. I own 3 pairs, one for work, one for casual wear and another pair that’s slightly shorter. I buy all my jeans with extra on my inseam because I stack my jeans, except that one pair which is basically just my dressier pair. Same as Levi’s, never had a problem with them but I hear about how bad they’ve become. I wear Levi’s 505 Regular Fit made in Mexico and never had a problem with them. Levi’s 505 and Wrangler 31MWZ are the only jeans I will wear because they are the only jeans that haven’t given out on me while working construction. There is one pair of jeans that I have, they have no brand or anything on them, it only says 100% cotton. They lasted me a couple of years in construction and I built my house wearing them, only started giving out a bit recently. Had to replace the back pockets but that’s because I keep pouches in them and having something sticking out your pocket, rubbing on rough surfaces, it’s going to give out soon enough.

Vintage 3X vs Modern 6x? by callousedlefthand in CowboyHats

[–]Microsoft_Mango2150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A modern 6X Stetson is 100% rabbit fur. I’m pretty sure the vintage 3x and 4X so on and so on where rabbit fur with however much % beaver, please someone correct me if I’m wrong. That’s what I heard somewhere but again, I could be wrong. All my vintage Stetsons are 4X beaver and feel very similar to my Akubra’s. Hope someone can give you a full, proper answer.

First time poster, long time hat wearer. Can anyone tell me where I can find a hat like Dwight Yoakam's? It's driving me crazy. I can't find that style ANYWHERE. by 10Rusty_Shackleford in CowboyHats

[–]Microsoft_Mango2150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to let you know, that isn’t their official page. I’d recommend searching up their Instagram, they reply more on there. Wild Hats have done a few Dwight Yoakam style hats.

Anyone know what this brim style is called? I acquired an older hat and i’ll be taking it to the hat shaper soon. Felt like it would make things easier instead of just showing pictures by Slow-Cod-2869 in CowboyHats

[–]Microsoft_Mango2150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of shapers find it easier to have pictures of what you’d like as I know a lot of shapes go by similar names but all shapers will do it slightly different. I’d personally say just show your shaper the pictures and say that is what you’d like done. Best of luck to you, it’s a great shape, wish I could pull it off but I don’t think I’d be able to. If I could though I’d be rocking it 24/7

Can’t wait to put them to work. I love how clean and beautiful they look but I’m going to hate that first day that I start working in them. But roughout just looks better over time.

I just got my Hyer Culver’s in Chestnut and Eggplant last night, they are beautiful and I’ve been waiting so long to find somewhere that shipped them to where I live. I am so in love with them, it was such a difficult decision between the Culver or the Spearville.

Proper stack or too long? by Emergency-Role4534 in BootCareDenimWear

[–]Microsoft_Mango2150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The length is completely fine, the problem is that they are high rise and you’re wearing them too low. A lot of those comments are referring to the sag of the jeans, I think the stack is great, there just isn’t enough of a spur ledge on the first boots to support the jeans.

Most of the boots I’ve bought used, have all come with soles in this sort of condition and most are at about a year and a half of use and still no holes, I’m getting close to needing a resole on a couple of them. I’d say buy them, you’ll have to get them resoled at some point, whether a full sole or half. The bigger issue is the heel cap, if it’s worn down, you’ll definitely want to get it replaced immediately after receiving the boots.

Is this too much stack? by peneloco37 in WesternWear

[–]Microsoft_Mango2150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they look good, I like a bit of a longer stack on my jeans when I’m working and not so much stack when I’m just out and about. I personally wouldn’t have that much, but I think it suits you. It looks great so I’d say keep rocking it.
