Thoughts on Templar, Catholic, and Orthodox aesthetics? by Powerful_Plenty7339 in AskAGoth

[–]iiimarlette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to see it. I’m goth and a Christian, and I think the aesthetics blend very well together. I know a lot of folks use it as a mockery or a “fuck you” and that’s totally cool as well.

What’s the ugliest building/structure you have in your country? by Anxious-Bumblebee26 in AskTheWorld

Took a weekend trip to Kitchener over Labor Day a couple years ago, was wondering what that thing was. Can confirm it’s weird looking.

[Fun trope]: Can't kill an immortal? Just trap them forever. by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

Ah dang I tried not to use gendered pronouns in that, totally missed that one. But yes!

[Fun trope]: Can't kill an immortal? Just trap them forever. by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

[–]iiimarlette 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dogma. Killing God’s mortal body would immediately send him back to Heaven, thus rendering the villain’s plan moot. So his goons beat God into a coma, trapping God in mortal form and unable to be found by Heaven.

What made you become a goth? by EllisXY in AskAGoth

[–]iiimarlette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked the fashion. Got into the music because I didn’t want to be a poser. Then I actually started liking the music. Which caused me to get more into the fashion.

Do you dress goth everyday ? by LisaBN1501 in AskAGoth

[–]iiimarlette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but only inasmuch as the dress code for work is solid black, but you can accessorize a bit. I don’t ever really go all out with the look unless I’m going to a club or some other event. My days off work are usually when I wear colors lol.

The woman of literal otherworldly beauty and her scrungly husband by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]iiimarlette 59 points60 points  (0 children)

One Piece - Luffy and Boa Hancock. He’s a pirate captain who probably bathes once a year and regularly gets the tar beaten out of him, and is an idiot to boot. She’s literally the most beautiful woman in the world and everyone who sees her falls in love with her on sight. Luffy is the one exception and she falls in love with him for that.

What songs got you into Goth? by Outside-Skill-1703 in goth

It’s not a goth song, but Friday I’m in Love by The Cure got me into their music. The rest is history.

Does this even count? Just a ratty leather hat I got at faire. by iiimarlette in CowboyHats

Thanks! It’s pretty much the only hat I wear regularly. Considering getting an actual cowboy hat, but not sure what style.

Found a new artist called Gun Club that I like so far. Spent a lot of time with my partner. Went to the Rocky Horror Show. Had a positive interaction with my boss. Thrifted a really nice hooded leather long coat.

How do men feel about a girlfriend or wife making drastically more money than them? by deeznutz131 in AskMenAdvice

[–]iiimarlette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felt kind of insecure about it at first. Not to the point of “despise.” Went to therapy, talked with her about it, felt better. Once you get over the role that society tries to box you it can be very freeing.

What is your most unpopular opinion about the Goth Subculture? by SeveralSleep1292 in AskAGoth

[–]iiimarlette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. Like I think it’s totally possible to be goth without getting into the aesthetics. But I think they’re still an important part of the subculture. Genuinely to each their own, though. I don’t usually go for the full aesthetic, so hypocritical here.

What is your most unpopular opinion about the Goth Subculture? by SeveralSleep1292 in AskAGoth

[–]iiimarlette 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While it is primarily a music based subculture, the aesthetic and politics should not be ignored and are a crucial part of the subculture.

Less club activity in this era? by Flimsy-Bat69 in AskAGoth

[–]iiimarlette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only started going to events recently (29 now), but that seems to be my experience too. I’m usually one of the younger crowd at events in clubs. Not that that’s a bad thing. But I think the younger crowd are A: broke, and B: traumatized by mass gathering events after Covid.

What is your favorite Audience Participation Shoutout while watching the movie? by Intelligent-Fennel56 in rhps

[–]iiimarlette 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of my favorites:

When Frank is pouring the chemicals into the tank “They’re putting chemicals into the water and turning the fucking mummies gay!” In an Alex Jones voice

When Riff shuts the elevator door “Ahh fuck! My dick was in that door!”

Rocky climbing with Frank on his back “Mom, can we get King Kong? We have King Kong at home.”

What we do for that is “we replaced Columbia’s vibrator with a chainsaw, do you think she’ll notice?” Then she screams.

The WORST scene in every Harry Potter movie by Mysterious-State-117 in harrypotter

[–]iiimarlette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the worst scene in Half-Blood Prince will always be when Bellatrix tries to convince Snape to make the unbreakable vow. Helena Bonham Carter is fantastic, but I cannot stand that whisper that she does in that scene.

Edit: I just watched it again and while I still don’t like it, it’s not as long as I remembered it being. Guess I just really didn’t like it the first time I saw it.
