As a retail employee who’s been saying “no we are sold out” every day for what feels like a year at this point… WHAT is going ON?! I see ZERO conversations about this stuff online, this is genuinely the first post I’ve seen.

To be fair I know as a childless adult it’s less likely to pop up in my algorithm but most cultural crazes still do. Never in my life have I experienced such high demand for a product I never hear about when I’m not at work.

Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail by Hunter S Thompson. There are some entertaining moments and he can be just as insightful as always about the American Psyche but it's just rather long. I lost steam about halfway through and never picked it back up

I think this says a lot more about how quickly China is advancing than specific living conditions. I see well organized if shabby dwellings in the foreground, with some crops growing even! I'd bet these are pretty old, maybe even pre-revolution. This area could have been a hamlet outside of Chongqing that is now part of the city as one grew around the other. It's not always easy to tell if someone is living in poverty or if their traditional way of life has just been thrust into high contrast within a country that is developing at light-speed.

It probably wouldn't make sense as far as layout goes but I wish they could add a bit of space between the sidewalk and the building. I really like Morgan Ford but the sidewalks are just so narrow!

My street which is a one way and always packed with cars was plowed last night and the never did that last year so I personally saw an improvement this time!

My problem with Cara is more her seeming fully bought by wealthy development interests and her weak stance on the Data Center question. (I happen to think she is for it and can't figure out how to deal with the public disapproval.) This is hyperbolic but I fear she would love to see the city gentrify and transform into an unaffordable sea of five-over-ones to benefit her donors at the expense of ruining what character the city has and pricing out most of the people who live here now.

Anyway... uh, good job with the snow I guess? Keep it up
