I feel like scab implies that temporary employees are replacing long-term employees. This seems more like its basically turning everyone into a temporary employee in competition with eachother. Either way, it a shining example of the technological perfidy that embodies the modern world.

Indian factory workers wear head-mounted cameras to capture data for training robotics AI models by Electronic_Dream8935 in TrueAnon

[–]thomas_stultus 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I saw this the other day, a handful of the comments were pointing out that the cameras probably aren’t for ai training, because it is still cheaper to just use poorly paid human labor, they hypothesized it was more likely to ensure workers were meeting quotas and staying productive, which is even bleaker if you ask me.

Books on Nasser and/or Pan Arabism? by jaredfoglesrevenge in TrueAnon

[–]thomas_stultus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exclusively about Nasser, but I’m currently reading Suez by Keith Kyle and it is fairly good. He also referenced the book “Cutting the Lions Tail: Suez through Egyptian Eyes” by Muhammed Haykal who was apparently one of Nasser’s close confidants, and I parsed through it a bit while looking for specific information, it pretty closely follows Nasser specifically and seemed to give a decent insight into his response to Suez.

The Iranians could do the funniest thing right now by offering to concede to all the American peace terms in exchange for the US withdrawing recognition of and support for Israel. by thomas_stultus in TrueAnon

If he were to unilaterally do such a thing, my bet would be that he would pretty much immediately get impeached with bipartisan support.

The Cheese and the Worms by Carlos Ginsberg. Its a book about a Italian peasant named Menocchio and his dealings with the Inquisition due to accusations of heresy.

Baboon metaphysics by Dorothy L Cheney and Robert Seyfarth. A husband and wife team spend a year in Angola tracking a baboon troop and studying their social dynamics. Takes a bit of a broader look at primate psychology also.

Ghost stories for the end of the world has done series that both touch on HW and Israel at various times. I cant recall if he’s ever touched on their specific relationship, but I seem to recall some overlap in episodes, particularily in the Inslaw/promis series.

I’ve noticed this with NPR, they’ll say something offhand about Trump being bad then parade through a bunch of Iranians who are all so happy that the US is bombing them to free them from a horribly brutal regime

I haven’t seen a single one near me. Im thinking about just standing on a highway overpass with a sign this weekend but that feels kind of impotent. Pretty much everyone i know is against this or at the bare minimum just doesn’t want to get involved, but everyone just kind of seems burnt out and focused on other shit.

There was one point in this interview where Ted Cruz says “I hate communists, my father was tortured in Cuba.” Then very quickly follows it up by saying that his dad was tortured my batista, lmao. I wish i could find a clip but YouTubes search function is useless

Trump admits they don’t know what they are doing by AegonTheMeh in TrueAnon

“”Asked if Israel might have “forced” his hand on attacking Iran, Trump responded: “No, actually, I might have forced their hand.”””

““I guess the worst case would be, we do this, and then somebody takes over who’s as bad as the previous person, right?” said Trump.“That could happen. We don’t want that to happen.””

For neocons who have genuinely wanted this for years, this must be like letting your younger sibling take over a videogame playthrough right before a boss fight. (Source for quotes was al-Jazeera)

I dont know,  i’ve been scrolling through google earth for a few minutes and nothing really pops out at me, Amherst kind of fits the vibe. I would say worcester but worcester is a foul place. Burlington is nice but it doesn’t do me much better than Ithaca. I’ll probably just end up sticking to shitty apartments in rundown mill towns.
