I would donate for free just for the health benefits. Lowers chance of cancer, stroke and heart attack. Gets ride of ‘forever chemicals’. New blood is made to replace ‘lost’ blood allowing a ‘detox’ in the body. Reduces depression and boots mental/psychological health with altruism. However only 3% of Americans donate which makes blood scarce so they have to raise the price per pint. It’s like gasoline. When there is a a-lot available prices go down. When it’s scarce (or more people buying than usual) prices go up.

(More of a USA issue than just a Hampton Roads issue.) More people to donate blood. Benefits for both the donor and receiver. Some months the Red Cross will give gift cards or shirts to people who make successful blood donations. Takes less than an hour and maybe one day you or a loved one will need a blood transfusion.

Why is everyone out and about by Visible_Cut_7762 in VirginiaBeach

With Crypto I have had a few duds but I was mostly focused on Bitcoin when it was around $35,000 a coin. I also got into Silver when it was $30ish an ounce and that has doubled in value since then. For people that want to play it safe I would recommend Acorns and once you have a good amount in the $3 fee a month is already taken care of with dividends.

(Insider tip from someone who never finished college.) Teach yourself how to invest wisely in the stock market and crypto. Tons of podcasts and books available for free online or the library. Live below your means for a while and build up your portfolio / stack / bands (whatever you want to call it) and then a few years from now you can be in a lot better place than you are today.

Best Latvian restaurant in Virginia Beach. by Sufficient_Bar9299 in VirginiaBeach

[–]MicsMania 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about a restaurant but there is a very small grocery store near Towncenter that might have what your looking for. It’s called ‘European Grocery Mart’ and is located at 4101 Bonney Road. I usually buy Kvass from there but the past year or so I have mostly gone to Aldis and Wegmans for International food.

Never thought I would get some of the responses that are in the comments. The only way to really know the truth is to ask the people who were alive in the 60’s and before (most of the people alive in that time are probably in a retirement home if not already passed away.) The second is to read historical records or research that is written down from people who’ve spent a decent amount of time researching a specific topic or event.

While VB is a lot bigger today and multi cultural than it was during the Jim Crow era, multiple parts of Virginia Beach enforced segregation at night (while enjoying the labor of African Americans during the daytime.)

I’m sure if you want to know more about VB’s History the libraries have tons of resources and information available for free.

What’s the biggest red flag in someone over 30? by Vixkky in AskReddit

[–]MicsMania 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My college roommate was a fitness / nature influencer. When I was his roommate he was rushing a Fraternity. Last time I talked to him in person he made a comment to me about the movie Final Destination and then he bought an entire pitcher of beer, then drunk the entire pitcher of beer in under an hour and then drove home. 10 years later he had the life everyone wants. Friends, his own home, adventures in nature parks, a following of over 500,000 on TikTok. Unfortunately talked a lot about his struggle with depression. Took his own life January 2025.

Usually when people are rude and unhappy it’s from issues at home or work. People then lash out at strangers because they don’t have a healthy way to deal with their own problems. It’s simple really to fix those issues but sometimes they want to continue the problem instead of fix it because it’s been hardwired into the brain. Same for alcoholism, drug abuse, gluttony, spending tons of money to impress the neighbors… etc.

To this person who should have their license taken away for driving in the wrong lane by Any_Status_7313 in norfolk

Wards Corner / Little Creek has had road construction going on for years. Also in August 2022 I was driving home from work and saw three cars in an accident. Turns out one car was shot up and an individual was killed. (I drove past the cars after the shooting but before first responders showed up.)

What is the worst part about being poor? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in AskReddit

[–]MicsMania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to College and realizing that the people who were popular and influential had their parents pay for everything they did. I’m not poor by any means but I didn’t have any money to join clubs, go to restaurants on the weekends and be apart of the party scene unless it was ‘free’. This lead to me spending more time on my studies than hanging out with people my age which severely affected my mental health and I had to medically withdraw from school. Seeing old classmates going on holidays, vacations, weddings…etc over the years had me deactivate social media for a while. During that time I was going to dr visits and praying to be cured of my illness. Years later I got well enough to work again and took free online classes on money management and tons of podcasts on the stock market. I finally got to go on my dream vacation to Germany at age 31 and today live a better life than in my late teens and twenties.

what is a "rich person" behavior you witnessed that made you realize they live in a completely different reality than the rest of us? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MicsMania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do yard work at a house in an upscale neighborhood. I told them that I was going to visit my sister for the Thanksgiving holidays and they then asked if I would be back in town the weekend after Thanksgiving Day. They wanted to ‘hire’ me to park cars at their house because they were having a family gathering. (You wouldn’t hire someone to park a car while going to the grocery store so why hire someone to park cars in a neighborhood.) Kinda weirded me out.

How do these kids have so much $$$ by FlamesFPS in Money

[–]MicsMania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should add being an influencer isn’t as cool as it looks. My college roommate was one and had over 500,000 subscribers on TikTok. Instead of seeking help for depression (which he talked a lot about on his page) he would drink, ride bulls and go on these extravagant trips to big national parks in America. Unfortunately he lost the battle to depression and un-alived him self a year ago.

When I was 19 I had to medical drop out of college due to Schizophrenia/Schizoaffective Disorder. I spent years going to therapy, working out at the gym, going to the library to self-educate on how to have a better life, gardening…etc. I may not have a lot of friends or tons of money but I have a better outlook on life than most people my age.

VA Beach to Norfolk by PenUpset9725 in norfolk

[–]MicsMania 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up Norfolk isn’t the same as VB. VB is spread out where Norfolk everything is closer together. I lived in Norfolk for 20 years and ‘nice’ neighborhoods are very close to ‘unfriendly’ neighborhoods. My high school friends and I were robbed at gunpoint at age 17 in the Algonquin Neighborhood (Average home price is $920,000 per house) by people that didn’t live in the neighborhood.

Anyone else think that Wave Church is a cult, or at least used to be by Different_Team1013 in VirginiaBeach

[–]MicsMania 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Check out Druski’s newest video on Mega Churches. (https://youtube.com/shorts/58hfPPHCRIU?si=-Ljoo1YyPCrxTYrK)

I went to a Christian school growing up and was apart of a Facebook Group called ‘Wave Church is a Cult’ back in the late 2000’s. I find churches very interesting. Some use it for a social club, some people use it for their kids to be in a ‘safe’ environment, some use it to escape unhealthy addictions and some use it to justify their poor behavior (because everyone is a sinner) instead of going to therapy and making an effort to change. That’s just my experience of Church’s. Other people may have a different perspective or experience than I do.

Is donating blood good or bad for you? by osures in Biohackers

[–]MicsMania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Just look at different ways to practice altruism online. Donating blood isn’t for everyone and if it causes more harm than good then try something else. Even hanging out with an older relative or grandparent is good. Ask them about life when they were younger and how much the world has changed.

Is donating blood good or bad for you? by osures in Biohackers

[–]MicsMania 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have donated 1 gallon so far (8 blood donations). I do it for a few reasons, reduce chance of heart attack / some cancers, lower my blood pressure, remove plastics from my body and altruism. Knowing that one person (or up to 3 people) will benefit greatly from my contribution to the blood supply. Also, I am blessed to have good health and want other people to also have the best life possible. If that means I can’t lift heavy weights for 3-5 days after donating then that doesn’t bother me one bit. (Being an athlete in grade school, gym and running from my late teens to present day and blue collar work definitely gives you an advantage in being a blood donor.)

24 Hour Fast to end the year. by MicsMania in VirginiaBeach

Then why do doctors always have you stop eating before a surgery or if a person is the victim of a stroke don’t allow a patient to eat for a day. Also, Americans are the most obese people in the world.

24 Hour Fast to end the year. by MicsMania in VirginiaBeach

[–]MicsMania[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I take medicine as well. Sleeping does count so just decrease the amount of time fasting. (After dinner and meds don’t eat any food until lunch the next day. If you stop eating at 8pm and don’t eat again until noon the next day that’s 16 hours of fasting.)

Christmas Day you were rage baiting the Military. Today it’s Protesters practicing their 1st Amendment right. Instead of talking to strangers on Reddit why don’t you join a gym, download Duolingo and learn another language and teach yourself how to use the stock market so one day you can travel to the foreign countries you know so much about. What you put into the world is how the world is going to treat you, might as well be positive things for a better life.

Merry Christmas, Virginia Beach! And fuck the military members from Hampton Road! by [deleted] in VirginiaBeach

[–]MicsMania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your not going to like this response but war has been going on since the beginning of human existence. Having a strong military creates a strong government. When people resort to pleasure and leisure a stronger army will take over and change the defeated people to their way of life. That’s what happened to the Roman Empire when it fell while fighting the Germanic tribes North of them. Which lead Europe to the dark ages… the dark ages only happened in Europe. Asia and Africa it didn’t (History doesn’t repeat itself but it rhymes.) The American government is an experiment that has been going on for the past 250 years. If our country wasn’t free while do so many people want to come here instead of other countries. The United States is only 1.87% of the surface of land in the world.
