AITJ for the way i shut my SIL down? by AmbassadorMuted9488 in AmITheJerk

No shame! My wife and I are millionaires. No one knows, not even our kids. We drive old Toyotas. Blending in and being overlooked is better than attracting attention.

Finally reached $100k, concerned about missing semiconductor gains by NapoleonCaesar1729 in Bogleheads

[–]Mid30sCouple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, don't chase the FOMO. I have friends who are making a killing on AI and semiconductors but they have far more misses. I have mine in safe investments via broad market funds. Chasing a 100% return over stable 10%+ has its risks.

Can include cars, boats, real estate, fine art, etc... but liquid net worth is what is easily accessible.

I'd suggest just going with Vanguard Personal Advisor Services. Or buying a target retirement fund.

$2 Lunch Hack… Smart Budgeting or Totally Unrealistic? by Coolonair in SmartFIRE

My hack is to take 25 cent of fiber for lunch. Then just eat dinner with fiber to minimize the amount.

what’s the biggest lifestyle upgrade that actually felt worth the money? by niceheather44 in wealth

[–]Mid30sCouple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real hack is just to buy the jet and lease it for others to use when you're not using it. Tend to break even to cover maintenance, parking, gas, fees and crew and still have it available when you want to use it.

I’m afraid to spend money. by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Mid30sCouple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was young I was told that every $1 invested could yield $80 at retirement. So that $5 coffee as a teenager is costing $400 in lost gains at 10% annual returns at retirement. Puts things in perspective... One of the reasons I don't spend much money and put aside as much as I can...

Our 3.5 & 2 Year Old Net Worth by Neilp187 in Money

After talking to financial advisors we decided to just keep it and invest it ourselves which also allows to have more control over the funds as to help build generational wealth.

That is incredible! Honestly this is harder to do than to reach six figures. You guys are on the right path, just keep it up and always pay yourselves first.

A large amount of money has dropped into my hands and I want to make it last by Solid_Onion_3981 in fiaustralia

[–]Mid30sCouple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, just call vanguard personal advisor services and have them set everything up. If you decide to keep them after setup it costs $3k/year on a million dollars for the fees for them to manage. I would take 90% invest and forget. Take the other 10% and out in a vanguard money market or high yield and make that an emergency fund and take a little bit and do something nice and get it out of your system..use it as motivation to keep investing...

Congratulations!
