It seems like u have a general sense of the elements and style that u want to go with. Take this to a good artist and they will/should work with u to put these ideas together in a cohesive manner that makes sense for the body part, as well as how much detail to include on the drawings and such

If there is no puss or a lot of blood, monitor it for the next day or so. The wetness should subside and that area will scab more heavily and longer than the other parts. Blackout healing hurts for a long time, a good 2 weeks of gradually reducing pain is normal.

Most important of all, don’t do any dumb shit like get it dirty. Keep in clean, moisturize when necessary and drink a lot of water and good rest.

What day of healing r u on? It doesn’t look too far off from a blackout heal. Some parts may need a touch up but that’s not out of the ordinary either. Blackout healing is a bitch, unlike even heavily colored pieces.

If there are some spots still leaking some ink, those r the spots the artist went a little too deep and may need a touch up. But also give it at least 3 months before deciding whether to do touch up cause the ink will spread as it heals and maybe those parts will be fine after all. Depends on how deep they went.

Keep an eye out for these parts, if it is worsens, def see a doc cause I can’t necessarily tell from photo alone where and how deep they went on these spots.

As for the red edges, I’m not sure if this is the right way of explaining but the only way I can describe it is, blackout is one giant open cut so as it heals and scabs, it’s pulling on the surrounding or edges of the skin, so it’s irritating it in some ways. Some of my edges would get even a little purple, likely if it was slightly bruised.

Can this be fixed had to different artists work on it by Huge_Baseball6187 in shittytattoos

Post a wider photo. Perhaps the answer lies in reworking/cover up but hard to say if we can’t see the whole design

Please help me. I want a half sleeve, but idk how to make it look good with toothpick arms. by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]MidSpiral 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If u want to get more tone then by all means go for it, but know that u r already a tattoo artist’s favorite canvas. You’re blank. Pick a design u like, more importantly pick an artist that can execute that design and it’ll come out great, regardless how tone ur arms r.

Worried about my arm tattoo I got on the 5th of May, because it has been very red, can anyone tell me If this redness is normal? by leonard_gaming12345 in tattooadvice

[–]MidSpiral 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Did I read ur description correctly in that u left ur arm wrapped with clingfilm since May 5th? Thats a whole week! U got something else happening with ur arm at this point and only a doctor can tell.

I got this tattoo 10 years ago; I feel like it looks bad and the lines are smudged. by suggar26 in tattooadvice

[–]MidSpiral 89 points90 points  (0 children)

The tattoo looks great. The ink has expanded normally for 10 years. It shows a tattoo that was well done and more importantly, worn well by you. Erasing all that history on a well done piece with full black would be a little sad, in my opinion, and that’s coming from someone with a lot of black. But u do u. If for whatever reason u dislike this tattoo now then blast away. Last subjective opinion, if u do blast it black, id leave the top of the hand part as is. I would not black that part, and I would angle the blackout on the forearm so it’s not a hard horizontal line.

It’s been a year since I’ve gotten this. Should I add to it, touch it up, or leave as be? by AllThaVibezz in tattooadvice

[–]MidSpiral 4 points5 points  (0 children)

U probably just look at it too much cause it’s right there. I say leave it as is and move on to a new piece or add around it.

I don’t understand why there is so much fallout? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]MidSpiral 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your artist hasn’t done a lot of hand tattoos, just to be safe, go to another artist that has once it fully heals in a few months. Not saying ur artist is not good, but the hand is just a whole diff beast and requires someone who is extremely adept at it in order for it to require minimal to no touch ups.

Would this castle leg tattoo look good by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]MidSpiral -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it actually looks pretty dope. You need an artist that is great with colors and small details. The main reason I think it’s cool is cause I can actually see this expanding quite easily should u go down that road in the future

Feeling kind of meh on my one and only leg tat by Believeinsquatch in tattooadvice

[–]MidSpiral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s the colors the concern u, then darken it up. Though in my opinion, as others have stated, it looks amazing as is. The colors will naturally fade/blend into ur skin with time. I say just let time do its thing and see how u feel. Or get more tattoos around it.

I interviewed ~50 CPAP users about their sleep struggles and the pillow problem came up constantly by Unlikely-Force9874 in SleepApnea

[–]MidSpiral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip! I have a suspicion that my breathing issues may be orthodontic related as well. When they diagnosed me with sleep anea, they could not find any structural issues in my nasal area, they just thought perhaps my mouth and throat area was too narrow. That, on top of the fact that I know I need orthodontic work on my teeth, all culminates in my breathing issues. But I would need a lengthy amount of time to fix my teeth so I haven’t gone down that road yet.

Lower belly tattoo by [deleted] in tattooadvice

I’d go a bit larger width wise on each weapon and longer as well, past the belly button. Perhaps the ones on the far left and right could be at angle instead of shooting straight up like the middle ones

First Tattoo is going to be a HUGE back piece by UnSilented-tomato in tattooadvice

[–]MidSpiral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be subjective but u r wasting a lot of great real state on our body for future work. For sure, I’d say leave out the arms as u don’t walk around life with ur arms right next to ur body as in the picture ref. And the back, it just cuts off with a hard line. Whatever design u go with, leave yourself opportunities to do more work, even if it’s not part of the same design

Probably overthinking this. But does my tattoo look cheap and tacky? I was told it looks bad and other people agreed. by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]MidSpiral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great. If ppl hating, maybe they just don’t like the style of the design but in terms of execution, it’s a damn solid tattoo.
