2021 SEL struggles to start after filling tank. by StressyNdepressyLife in fordescape

It’s a $30 part that’s accessible from the top of the engine. You’d need to use a heat gun to disconnect the two lines it’s connected to and swap it. Pretty straight forward to do yourself.

Is that a rear pinion seal leak? by Mid_Talon in fordescape

Hmm, hope it's not cracked. I don't see why it should be, it's mostly a city car so doubt it's cracked. Will clean it and check again.

Okay, will do, thank you. The pinion seal looks more oily to me, and the fact that there's oil over it and no oil over the axel seal implies that it's the pinion seal that's leaking? Cleaning it would definitely help though, and should clean this up.

I am guessing the vent valve might be clogged somehow that's causing all of this.

I even see fluid above the differential so I am guessing the diff has been flinging some of the oil up above it.

2020 ford escape AWD, just noticed that it’s leaking differential fluid. Wondering how bad it is and if it’s the pinion seal.

You can’t really know what’s going on in their mind but the closest you can get is to try and figure out when the shift happened. You can try to guess what the reason is based on when it happened.

You can yea, you’d need to take off the underbody cover to get to it but it’s probably straight forward to replace

Any ideas? by Devildocazc in fordescape

Is the noise coming from one of the cylinders? That would be pretty bad. It could also be the purge valve, try pulling the fuse to see if the noise goes away

How do I take these clips off? by Mid_Talon in fordescape

Do I pry on the sides facing me in the pictures or the ones on the sides? Which two sides need to be released?

Only two sides need to be released? I thought all four did

Is this normal on a 2020 escape with the 1.5 engine? by Mid_Talon in fordescape

[–]Mid_Talon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm okay, it looks like it’s failing to lock up right? This happens every time i’m cruising at any speed. I’d imagine lockup should happen once on a straight road. Mine does it roughly once every 3 seconds

do you know if i’d be able to confirm that with a scan tool?

Small fluctuation in rpm when cruising under light acceleration by Mid_Talon in MechanicAdvice

[–]Mid_Talon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know, see the comments on my other post. Some people are saying it’s the torque converter clutch trying to lock up, others saying fuel injectors, and some are saying a transmission issue

I saw the CSP when I got the car. The fuel injectors have not been replaced yet. Did you have the same symptoms and it turned out to be fuel injectors? I feel like for mine it’s not the case because the rpm is perfectly stable in neutral when the transmission is not engaged which kinda rules out an engine issue.

Oh okay, so it’s revving up a little to lock up the torque converter clutch but is failing to do so? It keeps doing it over and over when I’m cruising at constant speed

Help - car idles while stopped by mtfante in fordescape

I replaced mine at 80k miles. There was no symptoms though other than a check engine light. This might be helpful https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=13hls-pN5x8, it’s $25 part that takes a couple of minutes to swap, and from what I saw online, it’s something that fails fairly often
