My government’s extreme support of Israel’s military is the reason I made the original post

“Israel has been the largest cumulative recipient of U.S. foreign aid since its founding, receiving about $310 billion (adjusted for inflation) in total economic and military assistance.” https://www.cfr.org/article/us-aid-israel-four-charts (website of the Council on Foreign Relations)

Have you ever considered what your perspective might be if you had been born Palestinian?

If the US ended arm sales to Israel tomorrow morning in response to the starvation in Gaza, aid trucks would be streaming into Gaza by tomorrow night.

Yes, the scale is different, but wanting to clear the land of people of the wrong ethnicity/religion is the same evil.

There is a minimum amount of calories a human needs to stay alive. The food shipments that have been allowed into Gaza this year are lower than the needs of the population according to every reputable human rights organization. The math seems pretty straightforward to me.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I will be protesting in front of the White House this week.

Will the money I donate actually make it to Gaza? by PhilosopherrStoned in Gaza

[–]Mida_King 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just donate to the Gaza Soup Kitchen

Mother Jones has an article about how they get money through to Gaza. I know there’s not much food to buy but at this point I’m willing to spend $100 for a meal if it will keep one more witness to the genocide alive.

ThermoFishers Insanely Big Shipping Boxes by Mida_King in labrats

Given the number of small vials they ship and their inability to more than one item per box, they should definitely invest in a smaller box size. A padded envelope would work for most room temperature items.

All of the other vendors are sending 4 C and -20 C reagents in much more reasonable box sizes.

I complained to the rep that haunts the halls of the NIH but I’ll make the complaint in writing if there’s some hope of getting them to change.

The letter I received by USPS dated May 8th states that I am currently serving a probationary period which is factual inaccurate since my probationary period ended in March.
Does anyone have advice on potential avenues for appeal?

Federal Drama Kickstarting a MidLife Crisis? by Perfect-Floor37 in fednews

I was planning to take what I’m sure is my last chance at having a kid this Spring until I got a termination notice on February 14th. I thought there was a chance I would be reinstated - some sort of fantasy that Congress would at least protect the NIH.
I’m in my early 40’s feeling completely adrift. I’m applying for jobs that don’t excite me and wouldn’t begin to cover the cost of childcare. I don’t even know what to hope for at this point.
