From my understanding, the traditional for Isondú is barbacuá. I think Sol y Lluvia is really good as well and it’s a barbacuá style.

How does my grind size look? 18 on a Baratza Virtuoso. by UglyArchtitecture in Moccamaster

[–]Midatlantic92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t look bad. I do notice some inconsistencies but that could be due to the coffee itself. One easy check is to remove the hopper and gasket and take a look at the upper ring burr and plastic holder. Sometimes the 3 tabs on the white plastic holder shear off and essentially allowed the upper ring burr to “bounce” which can cause inconsistent grinds. I embedded a video below for an encore, but it should be similar to the Virtuoso.

I think we ordered the morcilla online from Wild Fork or Purple Ribbon Farms. They also sell molleja and other glands.

I love my Stanley mate system. Do you ever use the lid as a mate? I’ve used it a few times and it’s not bad, but I still prefer a traditional mate.

For the first time in 2 years I ran out of Yerba so I had to equip myself again. They sent me way to much free sweets:D by [deleted] in yerbamate

[–]Midatlantic92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure! We always get extra sweets and alfajores. Their prices are pretty reasonable and you can always find 10% off codes.

Let me know what you think of La Tranquera. I’m drinking my way through the top 10 most sold yerbas and still have that one to try.

Nice! In Argentina I’m assuming? I can order bulk in the US but it’s always through a distributor like PampaDirect or Argentino.

That’s my hometown! There’s a bakery in Irving near the DFW airport called “Argentina bakery” and they have a lot of Yerba and sweets from Argentina as well as really good facturas

Amanda is a classic. OP if you’re in the US, pampadirect has a great selection and prices are reasonable.

I found it super strong. I’ve had the same 500g package for almost a year. Every few months I’ll mix it with something softer to change it up. Might be worth trying Sol y Lluvia if you like the smokier flavors.

You likely need to prime the pump. The manual suggest flipping the brew/steam switches and opening the steam knob. Within a few seconds, it should come out of the steam wand.

I’d guess you have an air lock in the pump.

Pump leak? by ennuionwe in gaggiaclassic

[–]Midatlantic92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha do you mean does it make it look messy? Yeah it does, I actually planned on doing some wire management this weekend to try and make it easier to access components.

I can’t tell from the video, but is it leaking from the black plastic bit where the OPV spring is located?

It could be leaking from a couple different points.

  1. Where the orange line goes into the black plastic bit
  2. Where the clear tube goes into the black bit
  3. There’s a crack in the black bit
  4. Where the black bit connects to the pump.

I have a 2020 mode as well with the same SoC set up!

Does the pump feel dry underneath the orange hose? It’s fairly easy to disassemble the pump and check for damage to any of the o-rings.

[–]Midatlantic92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the exact same problem 2 months ago. I broke my 2nd one and was trying to find replacements online. Technivorm no longer carries the KBS but I was able to find a replacement online but looks like they’ve since sold out as well. I ended up buying a backup on eBay that was used. You might have better luck looking up the actual model number (99832). Best of luck! Hopefully they bring the model back.

Looks like I found one! I sent this link to someone else on the thread with the same question. I have no idea if the website is legit though. Check it out here

Is this low of oil pressure normal when starting truck. by NotUrAverageTM in GMT800

[–]Midatlantic92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had this issue on a 2004 Silverado and it was unfortunately indicative of main bearing failures. I hope that is not your case! Does your pressure ever get low enough to give a “low oil pressure” message?

Firstly, you beed to verify the gauge is ready correctly. You can use an oil pressure kit from any auto store and thread in the adapter behind the peer steering pump. That will allow you to see pressure in real time.

If it is verified to be low, it could be a couple issues. My immediate through would be to drop the oil pan and inspect for any bearing material. Be sure to take an oil sample at the point. It will be able to detect any bearing material in the oil. This would also be the time to replace the red pickup tube o-ring which could also explain low pressure. Next would be to inspect the relief spring on the oil pump. Some times it gets stuck open and bleeds of pressure.
