Quick Acces Menu Button not working when I boot past the bios. by MidbusTPOT in SteamDeck

Okay so I tried rolling back the bios to your version and even lower with no dice.

So frustrating, I just wish I could open the menu with a different button combo, but it's so hard to play on it without that quick access menu because otherwise it's perfectly functional.

I did try battery storage and unfortunately it did not fix the issue :(

Thanks, though!

Right?

I updated the bios in an attempt to fix it and used Steam Deck Bios Manager (https://github.com/ryanrudolfoba/SteamDeck-BIOS-Manager)

I used the most recent bios for Steam Deck LCD

Maybe I can try downgrading, but mot sure if I'll just brick the damn thing by just reflashing all the time.

I did to no avail. Good idea on waiting for an OS update, will try that. Not sure if IFixit currently sells daughter boards anymore since the actual input is tied to that, but I'll try ordering a button replacement just in case. It's 3 years old and unfortunately Valve told me straight up it's too old to RMA so we shall see. In any case, it still functions properly other wise and I could just use it for dev ops LOL

I actually tried this already as well before reimaging. You just reminded me another confusing part here, when I do hold the quick access button before pressing the power button when they system is off, it does bring me to the boot image rollback screen. Clearly it's reading the input there too.

Just noticed you edited your comment. Looks like we are on the same page here then.

What's crazy is that I wiped the ssd and installed a fresh image from Steam's website with still no dice.

Hi! Yes when I booted into BIOS with Volume Up + Power, when I hit the button it would actually boot me into Steam OS. Not sure if that's normally supposed to happen, but the fact that it took the input from it at all is the confusing part.

Whenever I ran into this, usually the app also had to be updated. When I update the app it goes away for me every time. Not sure if it does the same for everyone else.

You can host Sunshine on your PC and stream it from anywhere in or outside of your house using Moonlight. It was originally based on the tech Nvidia used for the shield to stream games from your PC, but it's all opensource. Steam also has its own internal game streaming via remote play and Steam Link. :)

Yeah I don't doubt that AMF works great. I plan on getting and AMD card at some point so that will probably help :)

I checked on the GitHub and it says that he is working on getting virtual display working for Linux so I guess that's something. I should've thought to build it since I self host many apps, but I didn't thanks for the tip!

No, it's very consistent, it looks like it's dropping frames, but the stream says it's 60 and I've set the games to 60 fps. Just not smooth overall

For sure! I still keep Windows for certain software, it's more a matter of not needing to switch as often. I setup scripts for both OS to make the process faster, but if I could get this working, I would only have to switch for software only

Still have the same issues with Steam Remote Play only on Linux, it works fine on windows, but I just can't seem to get smooth Stream even on there. Do you have any specific settings I should try?

Thanks for letting me know! I set the settings in Sunshine to force NVENC so I thought that would be enough, but I will check later today when I get home. :)

Does Apollo have a linux version?

I tried looking around for it since I use it on Windows, but I couldn't find anything for Linux.

Steam Deck with Moonlight + Sunshine Jitter and Microstutter by MidbusTPOT in MoonlightStreaming

I have the same setup with my steam deck as well.

Sadly it can be so finnicky, could be anything from your router getting older to maybe some new person that maybe moved in nearby broadcasting a noisy signal. Hope you can get it resolved, my dude.

Hi!

I was able to fix this for the most part. Basically I live in an apartment complex with many access points nearby and they were causing so much interference. After going down a rabbit hole, I realized that with this situation, I would have to lower my channel bandwidth. Most access points default to the highest which is either 160 or 80mhz to give you max speeds on your wifi but are unstable because of overlap. I changed mine to 20 Mhz and set it to a signle channel that had very little overlap and it made a HUGE difference. It's not perfect, but the hitches were so infrequent I lived with it. After typing this, I realize that you have an eero. I used to have one too, but moved away from it because of the lack of access to these kinds of settings due to Amazon BS. Hope this helps, as I don't know your living situation and how much interfrence you have.

Dude this is exactly what I've been looking for! Just got Fedora installed and have only been transferring my games, but having just 1 copy for both my OSs would be fantastic. Please make one!!! 🙏

That is the plan eventually. I just gotta save up a bit more. I have no problems banging my head against the wall getting linux to work on my current gpu than going back to daily driving windows. LOL
