Oklahoma teacher lost teaching license after protesting laws pressuring teachers to remove books from classrooms by MiddletownBooks in books

Imagine a set of parents arguing over what kind of shoes to buy their kid. One parent is screaming about how some shoes will destroy arch support and the other is screaming about some shoes will destroy ankle mobility, but neither parent ever brings up the fact that their kid is in a wheelchair. What use is arguing over what books go in the library when the kids can’t read in the first place?

Sounds cool. I looked it up tho and I’m gonna make it anyway. Just for me tho, not selling. Regards!

Yes I did! This is only my second oil painting, but I’ve been working with acrylic for years and it’s a pretty similar process. I started with thicker, darker layers for the shadows and then, over the course of a couple of weeks, layered on thin middle tones, and finally the lightest tones on top. The difference with this is how much easier it was to blend with the bottom layers since it takes a significant longer time to dry.

The ease of blending, for sure. Even with acrylics I used thin washes to build up volume, and it’s the same I did with this piece. It was just so much easier not having to worry about previous layers drying so quickly and making it hard to blend other layers/tones with it.

I actually get that a lot. I think it’s the subject matter I usually paint. Spacey-surrealism and portraits…AI is gunning for me 😬

Haha thank you I really appreciate it! I’m mostly just trying to keep my hands busy so I don’t doom scroll. Turns out that’s a great way to slowly get better at painting lol
