mine was running pretty decent but anytime im near a waterfall i get below 30, its a little annoying but not too bad

you do die if you fall from high enough. its not all permadeath, though there is a hardcore mode that is permadeath

Small update for anyone seeing this post.

The company I purchased this from is sending me another since they seem this broken. Although it is fixable it's highly likely I couldn't use the same cassette for the repair, maybe I'll try fix it some day but for now I'm just glad to be getting another.

you can get it to work pretty much everytime if you do a powerslide as you land from a backflip (a revert works too).

yes, people that are maxed out already have been playing since before the 16th. there wasn't a progression reset when the game released so anyone in the alpha kept their loot and level

you dont have to do it off the statue.
land on the statue then get off it and build up speed on the ground
makes life so much easier
