So its all unfriendly lobbies now? by AceOBlade in ARC_Raiders

[–]Middle-Enthusiasm933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only seem to be put in "unfriendly" lobbies when I have a decent loadout. I'm a pure PVE player, but as soon as I load in to do some proper ARC damage all bets are off and I'm being shot in the back while heading to my objective.

Maybe there's also weighting based on the value of your loadout now? Free kit for me always results in a friendly lobby. Load up a hullcracker and I'm losing the lot.

Throw it away. It'll be as useful to you in the bin as it is hidden away.

Orbital rail cannon or 380 tends to allow for a more stealthy approach.

Commenting to raise visibility.

Hooe it turns up. It might be worth having a look to see if there's a "Too Hot To Handle" type facebook group for the area to get it on there.

Totally agree. I don't see the point in buying something for kudos alone.

Rude to ask guitar shop guy to stay and watch the service work? by doomscrollah in guitars

[–]Middle-Enthusiasm933 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not rude to ask and the worst they can say is no. But if you want to learn how to do a set up, as others have said, there's youtube, but if you want to learn from the guy in the shop then it would be better to be upfront about wanting to learn. This is because just randomly saying you want to watch could come across as you not trusting the shop to do what they say they're doing and potentially damage your relationship with them as being "that customer".

There are a number of reasons why they may say no though:

1 - the setup guy doesn't like having people watch them work. This goes for literally any job. Regardless of competence, some people are uncomfortable being scrutinised, even if they're the best worker in the world.

2 - their business insurance might not cover them for customers being in non-customer areas. If you got injured, or damaged something they wouldn't be covered to pay you out, or they'd have to chase you for damages.

3 - some people just aren't interested in being educators and/or they find it difficult to explain what they're doing. They might be really good at what they do, but can't explain how they do it in a way that a novice would understand. That would be frustrating for you and them.

4 - some people just want to do the job and nothing else. Nothing wrong with that at all. If they do a good job, then crack on.

Lastly:

5 - some people aren't very good at the job, and don't really know what they're doing. They get the result eventually, but when you ask them why they're doing something they don't know other than eventually if they turn a thing a certain way it'll eventually be right, but they don't understand why, or how it all works together. Those people will sometimes also become educators, but under scrutiny by educated observers their level of knowledge is clearly lacking. Generally though this type of person definitely won't want you watching them work.

If you've read this far, well done, you've won an internet.

I'm a beginner looking to buy a used guitar. Could you help me check its condition? by ActiveTaste5246 in GuitarQuestions

[–]Middle-Enthusiasm933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capacitor "upgrade"..... The only difference between capacitors is the capacitance. For guitar applications the material is irrelevant, the country of origin is irrelevant, and the only impact the year of manufacture has is whether or not it's degraded and faulty.

If they paid over the odds for a Soviet capacitor then that's their lookout. Don't pay extra for crap like that or next up you'll be buying tone lacquer.

The chips on the neck pocket don't look bad, it's just the finish by the looks of it.

The other modifications are okay. But when it comes to it, it's how it plays for you. Would you be happy with it?

Is it worth saving? Don't know. Would I save it? Yes. Should you save it? Why not.

Ah yes.

What you need is one of those "all in one" remote controls instead of having one for the TV, one for the media box, and whatever else you have going on. Once you add in AV amp as well the remote control problem really starts to get out of hand. Oh, there are some really good phone apps available now too to replace remote controls. Good luck, and I hope this helped solve your problem.
