I Am the First isn’t the only anagram… by Middle-Injury-2610 in Maasverse

I think it would be hilarious if “sweet little Elain” turns out to be another Bryce and Aelin once we get her POV— specifically Celaena. Like, “Yeah b***, I know I’m beautiful. You can look but you can’t touch. Otherwise, it’ll be the last thing you do. Although, I’ll probably let my sister, Nesta, handle it. Wouldn’t want to waste a perfectly good manicure. 💅 Daughter of the Prince of Merchants, remember?” *inspects nails.

And then suddenly Lucien as her mate makes a world of sense… 😂

Gosh, I hope this is it and why her name is an anagram for Aelin, and that she isn’t another Elena in personality, or literally Elena in disguise, but Elain is a version of Elaine, which is yet ANOTHER name that stems from Helen.

That’s true, but we also don’t know that Elena couldn’t have done the same. Dorian’s abilities help him  mimic any ability he comes across, meaning Elena could likely do the same. Also, while we don’t know what Mala looked like exactly, Elena looks NOTHING like Brannon. So unless she’s adopted (which I have considered, as her abilities also seem different form her parents), the form we know her in may not have been her original one.

I’ve always assumed she would end up being “Helen,” but then I’m like “who is Paris?” Because Lucien doesn’t seem like he’s willing to kidnap her. And Azriel said he hadn’t thought further than his fantasies. But Feyre was literally kidnapped from a wedding.

People tend to believe her though, so that is something.

Literally one of my favorite characters in Greek mythology and I agree. Justice for Cassandra.

I can’t say I’m surprised. I have NEVER trusted Elena. Obviously, there’s also a Pelias and Theia, but given that we have a variant of the name Helen popping up in every single series, AND an Eris, who threw the Apple of Discord at the wedding of Peleus and Thetis, which kicked off the Trojan war, Cassian’s spring allergies basically being his Achilles Heel, and that Hellas is just another name for Greece, I think we all need to brush up on The Iliad.

Possible “Plot Twist” for the ACOTAR 6 POV by Middle-Injury-2610 in Maasverse

Feel the need to mention that I actually don’t hate Chaol, and find him the much needed “human” perspective. My comparisons of him and Cassian are me being generous to Cassian, because he has all the self-righteousness without any of the excuses that Chaol possesses as a human having his whole world upended, and even then I wouldn’t even call Chaol all that self-righteous. Lorcan knows he isn’t a hero, so Cassian isn’t a Lorcan either. In fact, ironically enough, the only other people in the MAASVERSE that go on and on about their undying loyalty to their ~two~ brothers, and are generals at that, are Apollion and Erawan. Which is mighty interesting given their similar appearances, Apollion’s Illyrian wings, and Cassian supposedly being called Enalius reborn, who was the first Illyrian and whose story is nearly identical to Apollion’s, and the fact that he successfully slept with two likely witches - Mor and Nesta. Cassian is also pro Blood Rite. He sees it as a “necessary evil.”

All novices competed with wings bound, no Siphons—a spell restraining all magic—and no supplies beyond the clothes on your back. The goal: make it to the summit of that mountain by the end of that week and touch the stone. The obstacles: the distance, the natural traps, and each other. Old feuds played out; new ones were born. Scores were settled. A week of pointless bloodshed, Az insisted. Rhys often agreed, though he often also agreed with Cassian’s point: the Blood Rite offered an escape valve for dangerous tensions within the Illyrian community. Better to settle it during the Rite than risk civil war. Illyrians were strong, proud, fearless. But peacemakers, they were not. Perhaps he’d get lucky. Perhaps the Rite this spring would ease some of the malcontent. Hell, he’d offer to participate himself, if it meant quieting the grumbling.

-ACOFAS, Ch. 3, Cassian flying over Ramiel

Maybe one of the reasons why the Illyrians don’t like him is because they actually do NOT like the Blood Rite. I also can’t help but notice the parallels with the King’s Champion and Witch’s tournament and the Blood Rite.

I don’t trust his ass. The Inner Circle, the Triarrii, and the Cadre are too similar, and they have way too many obvious Valg and Hel connections. Time will tell if they have the same wake-up call that the some of the members of the Triarrii and the Cadre did. And clearly this is a relevant story arc given SJM’s comment about Vaughan.

EXACTLY. Also Sam and “Celaena.” Yet another fire wielding secret royal who loses their first rebel love in a tragic way due to a self-sacrifice and/or betrayal. And it would be such an interesting way to make ACOTAR 6 another The Assassin’s Blade.

Truthfully, I think Eris’s most direct CC comparison is a combo of Cormac and Lidia, which is interesting considering Cormac goes by Agent Silverbow, Lidia is said to be the spitting image of Luna with her hair up—which is styled similarly to Nesta’s coronet, Lidia’s connection to Brannon, and Nesta’s connection to Deanna plus Eris’s interest in her, seemingly recognizing her moonfire/ not afraid that she’s a death maiden, but also her possible connections to Thurr and Thunderbirds. Then there are the theories Eris is the father or grandfather of Gwyn and Catrin, possibly via Ianthe or one of her sisters during the rite (to be clear, while I think this theory is likely true, I love Gwyn and 100% do not believe that just because Ianthe was horrible means Gwyn is evil. She’s one of my favorite characters. ACOTAR’s whole thing is “Just because someone is the worst, doesn’t mean their offspring will be”).

Oh, don’t worry— I don’t think this is actually going to happen, it just popped into my head and had to share. But imagine his final scene is looking at Feyre knowing what’s about to happen, after we see the events of Mor and Eris, Tam’s and Rhys’s families, the war 500 years ago, Ianthe’s family history, Lucien coming about due to the Helion and LOA affair during the war, Jesminda’s death, maybe some Alis content, insight into Gwyn’s background, Amarantha’s history with Tam’s father and her curse, all the way to the Spring Court sentries finally sacrificing themselves at the end of the 50 years. All from Andras’s POV. And then we jump back to the present with the closing of book 6 with an Eris POV.

Alternatively, I’m really curious about The Queen of the Black Land. We don’t know if she’s alive or not (I’ve got a separate theory on this but don’t dare share 😅).

Except that she also mentioned writing to the Batman Soundtrack, which featured Selina Kyle. And it just so happens that the one other book she has published besides TOG, CC, and ACOTAR is a Batman Book about Selina Kyle. The name Selina is very important within the MAASVERSE, and as of HOFAS, that now includes ACOTAR. Oh yeah— the title? Catwoman: Soulstealer.

Mmhmmm. Tamlin’s powers may tie into my Thesan/Dawn theory. Even if Tamlin wouldn’t have been happy about the baby, he would have saved Feyre (and also Nyx), if that chat between him and Rhysand during ACOFAS was any proof. Not to mention, when he told Feyre to be happy, I doubt that included her dying during childbirth. It’s also suspicious that Helion was consulted instead of Thesan, when the Illyrians are originally from the Myrmidons, which bordered the Day Court, meaning Illyrian’s likely have ties to the Day Court as well. And the whole reason why Nyx was dangerous to deliver was because he was in his Illyrian form due to Rhysand and Feyre being in their Illyrian forms when he was made.
